Horrible week last week for BeIN. In addition to about half of the Connect games looking like garbage (with what seems to be over compression of the image producing the metallic look that I've referenced in past threads), they decided at various points to not turn on any audio. Luckily in most cases there was also an English BeIN live broadcast but in other instances (e.g., Concepcion-Godoy Cruz) that was the only broadcast. Now I'm getting caught up on Sudamericana matches and they decided to just fade up a second Spanish track during the second half of Catolica (ECU)-Colo Colo.
I understand, but from the point of view of TV providers there aren't enough WCQs for it to be a big selling point for beIN not wanting to be dropped.
I just noticed that the SAP option for the Cruzeiro -Huracan match is Brazilian Portuguese (on bein English). Has anyone noticed this before or is this the first game beIn has offered this? I did not even know that BeIN had the rights to that language.
My needs are - I generally have access to 4-5 games per night. I have two local teams on the Fox RSNs, at least one national game on ESPN/FS1/MLB Network (sometimes two when an east coast game airs at 6 pm Central and a west coast game at 9 pm central), the free game of the day on MLB.tv, and the daily game on ESPN+. Even for a baseball obsessive, that's a lot of content.
I thought I read something about that happening. What service were you using to view that match? Or were you watching through the website? For whatever reason (and I'm glad they did this), CONMEBOL is now providing feed commentary in English and Spanish, so perhaps they are doing the same with Bra Portuguese. My guess would be that this move was made since Fox no longer has all rights across the Americas (well, Brazil had split rights between Fox, SporTV, and a few games with Globo). So Fox just provided the Spanish commentary. But once Facebook and DAZN entered the picture, perhaps CONMEBOL was including commentary to help boost competition in the bidding process and trying to hook some European countries that would take an English feed.
Was watching it on my Dish Hopper initially. Just for kicks I tried it on Connect (Android app) and Portuguese also was available as a Language option on there.
Hmm...on second look, it looks like they will have el sorteo. Its listed under the Locker Room in español .
Unbelievable. I really shouldn't say "unbelievable" since BeIN doesn't have a clue, but their scheduling for the last round of Ligue 1 on Friday is ridiculous. PSG locked up the league weeks ago, and last week the final Champions League and Europa League spots were clinched, leaving only relegation up in the air with Amiens, Caen & Dijon fighting over places 17-19 meaning one ends up safe, another will play in a relegation playoff, and the third will be automatically relegated. And yes of course BeIN is showing PSG on its main channel even though their match means nothing; that's not a surprise since they always show the big clubs. But they're also carrying matches on all 5 of their Connect channels. Great, right? Nope. Inexplicably NONE of them have the Amiens, Caen and Dijon matches. Instead, they're carrying a bunch of "dead rubber" games on these channels. So instead of an intense down-to-the-wire relegation battle we get a bunch of glorified friendlies. To paraphrase a famous political quote, BeIN never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
I am sure the 5 other people who want to see French relegation battles will draw up a petition and complain.
Oh please. It was a joke. I know you and maybe 5 other people around here care about the French League battles outside of PSG and maybe Monaco. It is just reality. Not opportunities missed.
Conference USA will no longer have college sports on beIN. That content is going to the NFL Network in 2019-20. So, more time available so friends & family of players on scrubby Ligue 1/Serie A/La Liga clubs can watch "intense" relegation scraps on actual TV!
OK, if it was a joke, then my bad. It's just that interjections of "who cares" when folks have nothing to add to the conversation is one of the more annoying things the internet has given us over the years. The bigger point here is just the total lack of thought that goes into BeIN's programming choices. Sure not that many care about the relegation battle in France outside of that country but even fewer care about, say, Rennes vs Lille which has no impact on anything.
It's a decision that will affect thousands, but we are on a site discussing football media coverage. Can't believe someone could develop a kneejerk reaction to always defend beIN when they treat their leagues and audience like dogshit with just about every decision they make.
Are you and I reading the same thread? It seems like no one here defends beIN at all. Almost every other post is some sort of complaint or technical question about connect.
Does Ligue 1 produce all 10 games for international distribution when they are being played at the same time on last day?
I hate bein showing same match on 1 and ñ today on sudamericana why not show different games on both channels? I understand when big teams like boca or river is ok but not in this case
As a huge Ligue 1 obsessor I can see where the interest in a Ligue 1 relegation scrap might mot appeal to a huge demographic but what the hell else are they showing on Friday after the PSG match? You joking or not about “who cares” makes you sound like Captain America at who laughs off soccer as a sport no one watches because it’s not as big in the US. I found it very strange how Bein decided to only air PSG matches live and on demand most weeks this season while disregarding the other 9 matches each round yet shows 3-4 Turkish Super Lig matches per round. No knock on Turkish league because I did enjoy the option to watch their matches but still.
BeIn Sport in France puts all 10 matches on their channels so I’d imagine all 10 can be aired internationally if a channel so desires
