That's a great goal. He f*cking nailed it. Not sure how you don't view that ball as moving fast. I'm not a big fan of Roldan, but he's scored two very fine goals in consecutive weeks from a range and position that many, myself included, have lamented hasn't been part of the USMNT repertoire.

    EDIT: Further, f*uck Seattle.

EDIT 2: This one wasn't a nice easy roll-out bouncer to hit. He takes down a ball high in the air really well and sets himself up perfectly for the power strike. Here's the goal: https://www.soundersfc.com/post/201...amo-1-0-behind-beautiful-goal-cristian-roldan

Glad someone scored. SKC are in shambles right now.

I thought I would mention this even if it's USL, since the player has previous caps. Playing for USL newbies El Paso Locomotive, Jerome Kiesewetter has two braces in his last two games. Since our striker talent is at a point where were calling up guys who don't even hit double digit goals in the Eredivisie ...

Friendly reminder that Nova is playing for a bottom feeder Eredivisie team so take his tally with a grain of salt. 1 goal per 3 games isn’t great but could be worse.

Also I’ll go out on a massive limb here

    Eredivisie>USL

How did JK go from Fortuna Dusseldorf to El Paso? Anyone?

He couldn’t break in and is 26. I’m surprised no MLS team took a flier on him but he might have priced himself too high and couldn’t get a taker. If he has a good year in the USL I’m sure an MLS team will take a flier. But he is who he is at this age and they’d likely be better served to promote and develop youth.

WS' u23 best outfielders of week 10:

    ---------------Baird(7.8)----White(7.6)
    ---------Saucedo(7.8)--Fernandez(7.1)
    Roldan(8.3)--------Hayes(7.4)----------Duncan(7.6)
    ----Robinson(7.4)-Nealis(7.8)-Sands(7)

    - Saucedo has taken the next step this season imo. RSL has got to start him.
    - Fernandez is looking like he'll breakthrough in NJ.
    - Roldan is in form ahead of Gold Cup. Back-to-back goals of the week.
    - Sands and Robinson continue their breakout seasons.
    - All of Duncan's 4 appearances he's been above a 7.
    - Nealis sounds intriguing. Don't know much about him.

Ya, what makes me curious is he's German born and raised. It's not like he came home to Texas, or even the U.S. Seems like there's got to be a story on how he ended up in El Paso, from the 2BL.

Re "he is who he is," I'm not a big ascriber to that view. Imo, the only reason a guy would have plateau'd at the age of 26 is either his body starts breaking down early, or he gets complacent.

Dempsey, for ex, continued to improve long after he was 26. McBride, too. I think Donovan improved significantly under Gullit's tutelage (not to say Gullit was a good manager, but he was good for Donovan) and Donovan was 25 when Gullit got there.

I'm not really arguing on behalf of Keisewetter, just taking issue with the idea that players can't improve significantly after 26.

Yep, you can’t just hand out minutes to a player because they have talent.

Edit: also interesting how he uses Laurentowicz as someone for him to emulate as a professional. Even if he only did 60 - 70%

He’s closer to El Paso’s level. He can’t do anything besides run to the end line. His right foot is average and his left is not competitive.

Amazing that there were people who wanted Kiesewetter called up a few years ago (surely having never seen him play).

Bruce is back... He’s taking over DC. Couldn’t happen to a better franchise.

It is NER, not DC. But, not a terrible pick. He knows how MLS works and is a life long coach.
Whether he can make a difference...

A few years ago? I bet they watched him with our u23s back then. Crazy fools wanted one our u23 leading scorers who could play on the wing. What were they thinking.

I find it more amazing that there were people who Matt Polster called up to the national team (and he was) when they had seen him play. He is crushing it at Rangers. You should ask Suy.... that league sucks and he can barely make the bench. Sciaretta even wrote a long article about him and how he wanted to get into the national team.

Who better to provide scouting and integration of youth for a long-term build that's required in New England than 2020 Bruce Arena? It doesn't take 20-20 vision to see this probably won't go well.

What is Baggio Husidic doing these days? Waiting by the phone for Bruce's call now.

Dave Sarachan is on standby as well.

It's good that Bruce is keeping his hand in - keep him warmed up for the 2022 cycle.

Sounds like he's got a bad case of Brekkenitis. He's 18 now. Time to grow up.

What was the name of that prodigy player that got signed in Italy (Genoa, I think) and ended up a bar tender by his mid 20's?

Szetela plays for New York Cosmos B. He was with Racing Santander and Brescia. No idea if he has a side gig.
