If only we had roster spots and salary cap space open...

Philly played midweek. Won 2-0 against Cincy.

And has now (surprisingly) moved into first place in the East.

So you're saying it's a "trap" game for them?

Blake is out injured, his back up got hurt in the first half, so they earned the shut out with a 3rd string keeper.

Seems like they need to recall Herivaux for this one and either start Somi or DeJuan Jones as a fullback, and then just play a 4-2-4 again and hoof it up to the front line.
Transfermarkt lists right fullback as an "other position" for Castillo but not for Somi - so maybe Castillo can play there, or maybe Castillo stays left and Jones plays RB.

Have faith guys. Im sure Brad has a master plan for this game :whistling:. Probably includes his famous high press.

Maybe he should consider a forfeit? 2-0 would be one way of keeping the score down. This team is doomed!

I suggest they play at 7 -2-1 and hope for the best

we don't even have 7 defenders. but playing 7 attackers i'd be down for. we can play the old W-M.

    Penilla-JFC-Agudelo
    Gil-Fagundez
    Caldwell-L. Caicedo
    Castillo-Mancienne-Farrell

They should try a 2-7-1, which is the formation we used when I was in middle school, which was a long time ago.

The 7 try to form an elaborate human pyramid to block as much of the goal as possible. 2 others chase the ball inside the penalty box. One works outside the box to push the ball somewhat wide?

Might not work any worse than what we’ve seen. But I’d rather admit our defense is a shambles and try to score, score, score.

Wow...my formation in middle school, was a 3-2-5 -- Right Wing, Right Inner, Center, Left Inner, Left Wing...backed up by the other 5 players!!

Me too. We played variations of the M W, and my coach in high school was a radical innovator -- he moved our C Half into the back line, chaning us from a 2-3-5 to a 3-2-5. In reality though, either the two "inners" or the wings and CF played back a bit in what is today considered a mid role.

Random thought... Revs supporters should have a rivalry trophy with Philadelphia supporters.

We could buy a (non-functional) Revolutionary War musket and use it as a trophy. If college football can use axes and cannons as trophies, I don't see why this would be an issue.

    I'm not joking, either.

My coach was the former (American) football coach, who resented the fact that the football team was cut to save money, and made no secret of the fact that he hated soccer. He didn't care what we did.

Good thought but Herivaux is still in Birmingham right? I thought they only recalled Wright. Either way I doubt they will put him in at CB as he's never played there professionally for the revs. My guess is we'll see Zahibo pair Farrell at CB with Castillo at LB and DeJuan Jones at RB.

We were a little more attacking oriented. We played a 2-3-5. I think the back 2 would mark the two attacking inners and the 3 midfielders marked the center and the wings.

Yeah, but do you really want to sacrifice hard earned roster flexibility for the sake of having now the players you need now?

A lot of trying has gone into creating that accumulated flexibility; you don't want to simply fritter away that multiyear investment.

Philadelphia is badly overrated. Basically an "eke into the playoffs" team. But they are lights out better than us.
