46' 0-1 Utah subs in (1 of 3) #24 Katie Stengel (=> RF) for LB #19 Michelle Maemone (and Jónsdóttir => LB).

49' 0-1 Morgan drives at Corsie toward box top arc left, passes down box mid-left to Ubogagu. Ubogagu chases to 2m mid-left, can't pull her cross across mouth, hard into endboards behind goal. Then she trips over Bowen's feet, stays down for a moment to stretch out a calf.

52' 0-1 Morgan slips a pass almost into Hill's stride toward circle top right -- but Hill must twirl to collect, and loses all forward momentum. Hill passes long to 15m mid-right, Ubogagu makes a huge run from the left, Barnhart wins that race and slides to smother.

54' 0-1 Orlando with a rare full-team siege in Utah's 1/3. Weatherholt slices a pass to Hill at box right foot. Backpass toward Krieger, but Jónsdóttir intercepts and clears into far touch.

    57' 0-1 Utah subs in (2 of 3) #5 Kelley O'Hara (=> LB?) for #9 Lo'eau LaBonta (and Jónsdóttir => RF, Stengel => CF).

57' 0-1 Utah switch to Stengel wide-open through box top right, down to 6-top right. Right foot shot toward right post, off Kopmeyer's left foot, skitters behind goal.

59' 0-1 Krieger passes to Hill at 30m box right, Corsie overruns her. Foul.

    59' 0-1 Orlando subs in (1 of 3) #9 Camila for #15 Rachel Hill.

64' 0-1 Jónsdóttir cross from 25m wide right to ~spot, Kennedy heads ball high and away. Press full-volley blast from arc top left to goalmouth center, Kopmeyer sprawls left and double-blocks down and away. Jónsdóttir 2nd cross to 5m 5-left, O'Hara jumps upon Krieger's back and heads down off Krieger, over endline left.

65' 0-1 Utah left ck, to 4m 1/4 left, headed away to 14m 6-left. Scott shoots into traffic, Morgan stoops and heads away. Ball bounces high, Scott hop-heads back into traffic. Rodriguez chests ball to self at 7m 1/4 left, swings quick left roundhouse volley but gets under it instead of behind it, lifts it waaaaay over bar (would have been over NFL goalposts), high into the endzone seats.

67' 0-1 Marta counters to 8m box right, medium-power shot to right post low doesn't bother Barnhart.

72' 0-1 Pickett fk at 30m box left, outswings over the scrum to 12m 1/4 right and dives directly onto Kennedy's head. Kennedy does a stooping twist-header but can't correct her contact point, way wide left.

73' 0-1 Orlando subs in (2 of 3) #15 Joanna Boyles for #6 Chioma Ubogagu.

77' 0-1 Utah subs in (3 of 3) #15 Erika Tymrak for #8 Amy Rodriguez. Whatever else, they both have some longevity.

83' 0-1 O'Hara passes to Press at circle back, Press passes to Jónsdóttir at midfield box right and continues her own run to circle top. Jónsdóttir return pass into Press's stride, Press doesn't quite spring free up centerline, must veer rightward and chase. Tymrak follows up box right lane, but Press chooses to hook an early long fast-lob try from ~38m+, it sails wide right.

83' 0-1 Orlando subs in (3 of 3) #23 Marisa Viggiano for #17 Dani Weatherholt.

84' 0-1 Morgan chases down box left to 5m, gives up footing to hook a cross, Corsie jams it over endline left as Morgan lands on back and slides. Morgan isn't getting a burst to beat defenses cleanly, but she's not getting much support, either.

87' 0-1 Utah cross from ~arc top wide right to 17m (= 18.7 yards ;)) center, Morgan jump-tucks and turns back to ball as Bowen jump-reaches with right foot. Contact while aloft, Bowen torso-bumps Morgan, both unbalance and go down rolling into box. Foul just outside box, yellow card on Bowen.

88' 0-1 Orlando fk at box top center, Marta standing left foot scoop just over crossbar 1/5 right.

89' 0-1 Ball bounces loose to Orlando's arc top box left, Stengel(?) chases, Kopmeyer slides out and clears off her foot.

90' 0-1 Pickett pulls Boquete down from the right shoulder (ahem -- she couldn't grab both). Foul, yellow card on Pickett.

Well it's official. The Orlando Pride suck. Their hipster looking coach needs to be fired immediately.

90+1' (of +3') 0-1 Tymrak collects at box top right touch, cuts inside to box top mid-right, flicks a pass to 3m 6-right. Press chases it from centerline, one-touch turn-and-shoot flashes across mouth, just wide left low. Stengel was following up centerline, never had angle for a far-post tap-in.

90+3' (of +3') 0-1 Morgan(?) chips a cross from 5m mid-left to 7m center, Kennedy(?) can't head goalward. Marta collects at arc top mid-left, does cutbacks but can't ever open a clear shot lane vs. Utah's quick and dogged interpositions. Marta pokes leftward, ends up side-by-side with Morgan at 10m mid-left, Morgan takes ball inside, backpass to arc top. Camila is caught on ball, loses it to Utah's perimeter defense, Utah clears.

90+4' (of +3') 0-1 Orlando create one last scramble, eventually chip high to 6-top right. van Egmond wrestles for position but can't also adjust head to ball, it skims off her head's back right quadrant and bounces over endline right.

    FT 0-1.

Orlando are getting no pop from anybody. Morgan and Marta are not close to their previous levels of explosiveness, Hill is active but a bit too accustomed to cleaning up good crosses, and everybody else are decent but not deep threats. Press looks more lively than both of them, and even she isn't converting consistently.

Utah were very good tonight at defending lanes and preventing easy shots. Credit Harvey for preparing her players to defend against all of Orlando's usual threats.

Utah are the first team to 2 wins, and lead the table with 6 points. Didn't see that coming ;)

I think it's important to not be stuck in the Boston Breakers fans' mentality of firing the coach will fix everything. As long as the roster is what it is, they could hire whoever is considered to be the best coach in the world at the moment and it won't make much of a difference. Their GM, Erik Ustruck, needs to do something with the roster.

If trading them can improve their defense and/or midfield, sure.

And hopefully said "No Thanks." If LAFC comes in for 2020 and gets the #1 overall pick, we could have Jessie Fleming for many years to come. If they trade that away, they are idiots. Build the team around Fleming. (Though I guess Fleming could choose to go play abroad like Buchanan and Lawrence... so the #1 overall pick might not be worth as much)

Eheh, my first prediction of this week is perfect! :D I believed in Harvey, I know her teams are solid and I knew she could very well come in Orlando to win, given Pride's current form and the fatigue fromt their two previous away games in a week!

By the way, I was the only one in the Prediction's thread, I guess, to put Utah in the play-off, so, yes, I did see that coming, instead. :whistling: Time will tell. :)

Where this Maemone, who made that very good cross for Press, does come from? I had never heard of her...

By the way, just watched highlights of the goal: Press turning her head and winking after it was priceless! :D

02' 0-0 Oddly, Chicago are under ceaseless pressure in own 1/3, and nervously clear into near touch twice. Haven't crossed midfield yet?

03' 0-0 Naeher punt to midfield, Reign win header and lump it forward, Naeher collects. Her fifth(!) touch already?

04' 0-0 Short gets to 12m box right, cuts into box mid-right! Left foot shot to right post low (or just wide), Ld.Williams dives and catches.

05' 0-0 Balcer steals Short's pass, cuts inside across Short, shoots on the run from 25m mid-left toward crossbar 1/3 right, Naeher tips it off crossbar and over.

06' 0-0 J.Taylor shoots to Naeher! Yanez header to right post low, Naeher collects!

07' 0-0 Balcer turns past somebody (Short on that side?) down wide left, early cross over Naeher stranded at left post, juuust wide right, nobody there for a tap-in.
