Well, I am not talking only about his performances with his Italian team. This boy left Flamengo a few years ago to play in Italy. Since then he's improving year after year. But this year he had a huge impact on the national team, winning Copa America and being the top scorer and the best player of the tournament. Now people ask how on earth he is on the bench! 2004 is a special year for him. :)

I would have to say Tomas Gravesen for Everton. He was not so influential last season but this season he has been immense. It is a wonderful team effort but Gravesen is the one that stands out for me. One of the reasons for Everton's success this season.

John Terry. Great last year; now the captain of one of the two stingiest defenses in Europe and definitely the standout on that unit.
Too bad he wasn't fully fit for the Euros.

Arjen Robben, look at how offensive Chelsea has been since he's returned from injury. What a beautiful player to behold when running in a open field.

You can't say he really improved that much. Last season he was also terrific for PSV.

Okay i'll agree that he improved a bit last season but he is probably the worst player in the EPL and in the Irish national squad.

I have no idea hoe this player made it as a pro, he has no talent at all and he never seems to know what is going on around him....

dunno how much he actually improved this year compared to last as i didnt get to watch much bundesliga last year, but his goals for leverkusen this year are stunning.

I've seen quite a bit of Man City this season, and every game Dunne has been solid. He's won at least two man of the match awards, and he was very good against Croatia... exposed once, but made one brilliant goal-saving clearance. Last year, his career was in jeopardy due to lack of form, excess weight and off the pitch problems. That's why I pick him as most improved.

I mean, would you rate Gary Doherty ahead of him?

Fernando Ricksen has been instrumental and probably the most important player for Rangers this season, he is worthy of a place in the Dutch National team again.

Others: Reyes, Robben, Downing & Bob Malcolm :D

All these players were also great last season. It's not like they made giant leaps...
(I'm talking about all except Julio Baptista, whom I never saw a game of)

    i still disagree.

as i said earlier, he is playing the same, just getting a lot more help which equates to better performances.
