Inter Miami Presents Proposal to Revitalize Historic Lockhart Stadium Site The proposal to the City of Fort Lauderdale will be anchored by a best in class training facility, the Club’s youth academy, and a multi-purpose sports stadium Miami, FL (Monday, January 28, 2019)- Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami “Inter Miami”, announced today that it has presented a proposal to the City of Fort Lauderdale for the design, construction and maintenance of a state-of the-art soccer training facility, a multi-purpose sport stadium and a sport centric community destination in the former Lockhart Stadium site. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...sal-revitalize-historic-lockhart-stadium-site
It wasn't the headline of the InterMiami CF announcement yesterday, but it might be the most significant to local soccer fans. The MLS franchise clearly has a USL Championship club in mind for Broward County: http://magiccity.soccer/2019/01/29/usl-team-in-mind-as-inter-miami-cf-plans-lockhart-renovation-youth-academy-plan/ …
Sounds like a great idea. I will remain anxious until the situation with the commission and the stadium deal is resolved. All other news still feels speculative

Again; you're talking about "round the clock" construction, during hurricane season, converting what's now overgrowth into a modern stadium that has to fit USL Championship standards. Even if Inter Miami starts their first season playing nothing but road games until June of 2020, that's 14 months or less.
Come on, first division teams from Miami always end up in Fort Lauderdale eventually. It's been happening since 1977!
Yes I believe they will only be in FTL for two seasons and then be in Miami. I don't understand why people are so opposed to driving )or taking the Tri Rail) 45 minutes north. It's not like it's about market altogether. I never understood the 954 vs 305 thing but maybe that's because I have lived in MiamiM Miami Shores, North Miami, Coral Gables, Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale. I guess I move around a lot. But I consider all those cities to be one area.
I would say that geographically speaking, we are the most unique market MLS has tried to tackle in America...three big cities laid out in a pencil shape 100 miles long with no where to go to the east or west...none of the conventional rules apply which helps to explain the general difficulties of this project.
Vancouver built a similar structure in late winter/spring to get ready for their first season of MLS. Only took 4 months.
🚧 🔨🏗 The demo crews and hard hats are in! Fútbol history in SFL starts all over again.Lockhart stadium will get a new look and our club’s future begins here! @InterMiamiCF pic.twitter.com/2E1B8NTgNR— Southern Legion (@Southern_Legion) April 30, 2019
Oh boy, this is going to be interesting...guess we will find out tomorrow at 5pm with the ruling on the injunction request...could this be any more dramatic!?
VICTORY!! FXE motion to stop demo is denied by Broward judge...onward and upward...ok Team Mas, Beckham, etc--time to kick this into high gear, get the heavy equipment over to Lockhart, no time to waste.
Judge Singhal’s order is a fairly comprehensive victory for Inter Miami and the City. Court doesn’t think FXE has standing under the unsolicited bid statute and holds that even if they did, they haven’t demonstrated non-compliance with statute or irreparable harm
We need to start building the new Lockhart like right now, no more appeals or bogus lawsuits in Miami or Broward.
