based on what? he only scored goals last season under very offensive minded manager (Culpi) at Gamba Osaka. not exactly the same since & J League is pretty soft league w/ plenty of space for Hwang EJ to run the channels in open game edit - excluding the goals (w/ pathetic conversion %), Hwang EJs stats last season in J League are abysmal. rated the worst when it comes to post-play, linkup, duels in the air and so forth..
Well, he was still the 3rd best scorer of the league, ahead of every other Asian players, no ? Not to count the goals scored by a striker to assess his talent is nonsense, it's as if you didn't count the number of saves made by a goalkeeper. Gamba Osaka played an attacking football last year, tell me a player in this team who scored more or less as much goals as him (I spare you the fact he made the difference alone many times). Maybe, considering he's one of our best strikers in the past years is exaggerated but I won't complain about his selection and I won't call him pathetic or abysmal either.
he tied with Koroki of Urawa & I mentioned his other stats or skills as footballer are abysmal. if he doesn't score, he is useless to the team. he had his one great season in K League too. i don't think it will be any different in J League as.. again, as overall footballer.. i think he is awful. he wastes way too many chances as goal scorer. edit - btw, J League defenders are rather short for the position. unless he is facing foreign (mostly Koreans) defenders, Hwang EJ is taller than most & he still can't win headers. if i remember correctly, even the gap between he and Kitagawa of Shimizu (who was rated 2nd worst at 178cm tall) was a bit shocking
he was shite at the Asian Cup. wasted about 2-4 clear cut chances per game.. along w/ few more half chances. his strength is supposedly to score goals. scored 2 at asian cup...which includes a penalty earned by Son. as international, he has only proven himself at U23 lvl in mickey mouse tournament against U21 teams.
Theres reason why everyone dreaded his call up to the Azn Games. Hes always been poop for national team. only time he not shit is azn game. again he is poop for national team. bento seki is to shortsighted
i know i'm splitting hairs here but his movements are really good, but his choice of wrong footing himself is like....something to be desired. but yeah, he does deserve his chances here not bc he's so great but the lack of options we have
Have we tried a one top system with Son yet? Why is he still playing as a playmaker.. The sooner he makes that transition to an out and out striker, the better.
he cant play as a lone striker. He needs to have a partner in a two top formation. Or stick to the wings
LOL your argument is moot because that league is shite to begin with. I can make the same argument with Jung SR despite his terrible form at Suwon before he became relevant again in that garbage league. Why even bother?
Anyone who says HUJ is remotely 'good' or 'best' have not watch him fall down 1000x in the Asian Cup. This guy just plainly sucks at a national level and decent in the domestic scene just like his J-shit companion, KSG. Both SHJ and CHW are better than these scrubs.
Apparently KSG is out for tomorrow’s match so looks like CHW slots in as the starting GK. Hope he has a good game so he can convince Bento he’s the best GK for us.
We have so many options for the midfield positions. We didnt even have NTH and HHC.. Unfortunate for LKI/BSH/LSW/JWY, but I am actually very happy. Our NT has needed this for a long time.. Our youngsters will need to fight for their spots regardless of their potentials, esp with our manager being Bento.
we have a lot of high workrate/energy guys and i hope by 2022 we can have a system where we have LSW, HHC, NTH, LCY, LJS, KCH, HIB in established roles for the NT. during the last 4 year cycle we didn't have an established backline, midfield, or attack. for better or worse, we need some consistency in selection so that players can build chemistry and familiarity.
