I told Jesse last April that the fans were out of patience. It's been nearly a year and we are arguably worse now than then. We are the very worst team in the league at 0-0-3 and a -7 goal differential. Our next league match is against LaF@#$ck. They are going to torch us. So we'll be 0-0-4 and probably -10 or there abouts. OUR team, that many of us have supported since the 1970's, or at least the middle 90's is a steaming pile of dung. I get what you're saying. That we should give Matias time to work his magic. But I'm fresh out of patience. Win now, right now, not later, not next season, not the end of this season after we've been eliminatted from the playoff hunt. Win right now!! That's it. Go Quakes!! Fire Everyone!! - Mark
Oh damn!! Typo!! Thanks, just fixed it. And yeah, it's been a long time that we've been suffering. But my point was, many of us fans have been with the team longer than the coaches, GM, owners, and players, and we'll still be fans long after they are all gone. (Unless Fisher out lives me, which he might.) So yeah, I'm pissed that Fisher thinks it's OK to throw away season after season. - Mark
Management seems to think that once someone is a fan, that person is hooked forever. But this isn't the EPL, where fans simply won't abandon a team that their family has followed for generations. I've got to believe the Quakes are bleeding STH, but instead of reaching out to us and explaining what's going on and how they're working to fix the problems, they bring in a drum. I made the last ST payment on March 1. As far as I'm concerned, that's it. No need to keep throwing money at this team. Oh, I'll still watch the stream and buy tickets to the Stanford game but barring a major change, I prefer my sunroom couch to Avaya.
Being a "Fan"atic of a team is not based on W-L records, or Titles won. It's a lot like life. You're there because you WANT to be. There will be great highs, and crushing lows. The woulda, coulda, shouda. The "unfair" outcomes, the "got a way with ones". The extended periods of nothing seems to go right, the times where it seems everything breaks your way. That's not to say expressing your feelings during these times is wrong. or showing lack of support, but if you let the "lows" drive you away you were never really a fan to start with, and try not to twist your knee as you jump off the wagon.
Not been driven away. Still a fan. Just not a $$$$ fan. And I only jump when the Quakes score at a home game, so my knees are out of practice.
The pressure to win immediately can lead you to make dumb decisions that put you in an even worse position. Remember the Man United fans who wanted to fire Sir Alex Ferguson... Matias needs time to work in the new system but also time to get some real transfers in. Most of these guys are not his players, and the few that he did bring in were his 4th or 5th targets. Ownership needs to back him with a serious transfer budget. The current situation reminds me a bit of Newcastle under Rafa Benitez. Their owners spent all this money on an elite coach and then didn't give him any money to spend on players for 2.5 seasons until finally opening up the checkbook and buying Almiron this January, and now Rafa has them flying and climbing the table.
Agreed. There's only so much disposable income, especially if there are limited good faith efforts by the team. They're barely trying.
I haven't heard anyone call for Matias Almeyda to be let go. Yes, it appears we are going to have to be patient while we wait for reinforcements (which, after all, may never come). Except we have already been incredibly patient, and it seems that we (at least season ticketholders) are owed something for that. Refunds, reduced concession prices and merchandise vouchers, and perhaps free parking in the dirt lots, while we wait. And wait. For even a single win.
Might as well be the carbon spoon... we're going to own it for a while so it better last. Maybe we can have a bobble head of Wondo frozen in it ala Hans Solo. Could also be our new statue at the gate.
More than one. Should have been 3-0 in the first half... if Vako ever learned to pass, 4-0. Vako is my goat of the game. I agree with others, that the early ball is the problem offensively. Wondo and occasionally Magnus are the only folks forward that play the early ball. The first half was quite nice... not sure why but Espinoza down the right wing was a large partn but perhaps TT linking with him (likely we'll see more of TT and Espinoza together, even when Lima is back). I'm guessing RB adjust some mids at halftime to compensate. The defense is give way too much room... the entire team needs to step up the intensity and play faster. Most worrying of all is Mathias' lack of change in he starting lineup, late subs and lack of adjustment in the game. Is he out of ideas or giving up already?
Tyf maybe you should just move up to the bowl? Sit near me and Ned. It will cost a lot less. I’ll bet There will be lots of available seats next season.
Yeah, yeah. Ownership needs to back Matias (clearly not happening). We fans need to be patient while he works his magic. The guys we brought in were low down on his list of players to get. Yeah sure. We've been shit since '13, with a tiny bit of light in '17. Otherwise, unmitigated disaster. I was pumped when we finally fired Doyle. I was pumped when we finally fired Kinnear. I was pumped when Leitch tried to play attractive attacking soccer. And we've been shit since we replaced Leitch as coach. We suffered through several seasons of crappy Yallopball. Do you remember the season where we had north of three full halves of soccer up a man and didn't score? I called the office and asked: "Why hasn't Yallop been fired?" The gal who answered the phone thought I was making a joke. I told her no, I'm as serious as a heart attack. Fire him, right now, this minute, months ago would have been good. Do you remember getting spanked by Chitcago when they were the worst team in the league? Do you remember 2014? 18th out of 19 teams? Do you remember missing the playoffs in 2013 and 2014 and 2015 and 2016 and 2018? Sorry. I'm done being patient. We fans deserve better than the crap we're being served. Go Quakes!! Jesse OUT!! - Mark
I tried to move to the bowl -- there were seats available -- and they wanted to charge me more! I guess I'm paying below-market rates for box seats now but given that the box is almost always 2/3 empty, maybe the "market" is confused.
wow, that is a big surprise to hear. I guess someone realized how bad your seats are (no offense)! In my opinion, our seats in the bowl are superb. I just wish we had better stuff to watch.
