seeing as how its been (sorta) the one year anniversary - what's the latest with Lindsay Simpson's situation?
The Lindsay Simpson situation really disappoints me. If the FO has a positive relationship with their employees they will be sure to take care of them to the point where I would expect there wouldn't be any litigation. It's possible Lindsay is litigious and there is nothing the organization could do, but I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt here as she really seemed to pour her heart and soul into the DCU job. I don't think someone who is litigious would work that hard for any organization. (I realize I'm projecting an awful lot here). I also have seen far too many JV moves by the organization to give them the benefit of the doubt.
My way of saying no news for a long time. Last thing I saw was a piece by Pablo in the The Athletic many months ago.
Knowledgeable fans know DCU's fans hail mostly from NoVa and then MoCo/PG and then to much smaller extent, from DC. So on the DCU website ("Bar Partners") they proudly state they have bar partners "throughout the DMV area so fans can cheer on" the team when on the road. So how about that list? They have a mighty impressive looking list of 26 official Watch Party and Neighborhood partners. But apparently DCU sales staff can't figure out how to get very far across the bridges. 20 of the bars are in DC. Of the 5 in VA, 4 of them seem to be within a 1 mile or so of each other in Arlingtron; the other is down Woodbridge-way. The lone MD bar is at National Harbor. Do staff members need passports or something to venture out into the suburbs and make sales?
A few years ago I found a bar in Purcellville that was interested in being a bar partner. Gave them the number of the guy at DCU in charge of such a thing. He never returned their call. Probably just setting me up for 2019 so I'd have no way of watching most away United games. It's got to be hard to sell any bar on this Flo nonsense - and knowing DCU, I'd be wary of the list of bars being up-to-date.
Uh huh. Sure. And just how many of them have subscribed to Flo? Or, is there a different means by which "bar partners" can show DCU games? Or, is this something that was never even considered by the FO when they made the deal with Flo? Or, am I just being too cynical?
There is a Goff WP article today stating that it is team priority to re sign Acosta before summer. https://www.washingtonpost.com/spor...o-acosta-stick-around/?utm_term=.890e19b909df
WOW! A local sports team catering to their MD suburban fans. Who would have thought it? #ALLCAPS #DCU cc: @dcunited https://t.co/HkL30dTy9i— Jay! (@JayRockerz) March 6, 2019 Thx, Jay!
By contrast, this is the United post: First road match of the season is this Sunday against @NYCFC! 💪💪💪💪The viewing part presented by @Heineken will take place at @LousCityBar starting at 3 PM ET! 😎😎😎😎#DCU pic.twitter.com/wCkrIVJYfd— D.C. United (@dcunited) March 7, 2019 Nothing in it to educate the MD/VA fans that no, their local bar is unlikely to be able to show the game. Nothing about bar partners anywhere who are likely to stream. Only in the comments do they address a snarky “what channel”. Thx, Jay!
Bolton is on the verge of going bankrupt. Players and staff not getting paid. Recent article said they closed their training ground. This player link to DCU could be lazy journalism- every Bolton player probably wants out of there.
You could probably say the same thing for most people who actually live in the District, so strong is their aversion to leaving the city for anything.
I remember complaining some years ago to my brother (we were both living in NW) about driving to Rockville to see a woman, he complained about driving to SE.
The Post did a separate article on Flo's broadcasting woes. https://www.washingtonpost.com/spor...-gets-off-rough-start/?utm_term=.b882bcc3eac7
There used to be a bar in richmond. Seems odd to turn a blind eye to a major city in the neighboring state.
Sooooo, according to MLS's website, Lucas Rodriguez is classified as a young DP. Was this ever actually announced by the team or league when he came in on loan?
Thats the first I am hearing of it. At this point, there's virtually no way I think they could give Lucho a raise in season now with Rooney and Arriola on the books as DPs as well. Young DP is just an accounting thing with respect to the cap hit right, he still counts as one of three DPs right?
