michael parkhurst is one of the best team defenders this country has ever produced, but you can't keep hanging him out on 1v1's like atlanta has been. not at this stage of his career, especially.
It shouldn't be surprising. They should have anticipated it. He's a smaller, ball-playing center back who is now 35 years old. Can't cover any space.
********, I need to stop watching this tournament to maintain my sanity. If mls is 10 levels below Liga MX like we're seeing yet again and Liga mx is far below Asia as the cwc clearly shows, then what the ******** are we paying top level prices to see here in America? Something on par with the Zaire league? Hey, if we keep improving maybe we'll be as good as the Panamanian league soon! Yay, go us!! ******** soccer and ******** all of you.
It’s a new rule this year. Basically allows the refs yo do something other than eject team staff as punishment.
The Zaire (Democratic Republic of Congo) league has two of the best African teams: Tout Puissant Mazembe (that already made a CWC final) and Club Vita. No MLS club is as good as those two, IMO.
I don't exactly recall, but neither of those 2 beat 2 of the top Mexican teams before essentially tying another Mexican team, albeit a weaker one.
He's been showing signs for years now. When he came back to MLS and was with the Crew he'd have moments where he looked like a yellow traffic cone. Now he has more moments looking like a 5 striped traffic cone. LGP tends to go on walk-about, which forces MP to cover way too much ground on his own. Not to mention Monterrey is likely the best team they'll face all season.
Its the sport in our over the top athletically gifted nation that has a Jeff Agoos in its Hall of Fame. And a men's professional league that has now banned streamers. Take from this what one will Crook.
FDB was out of his depth with his adjustments. Should have make the subs to protect the 1-0 since they couldn´t score in their good 10 minutes. Wanted to go for an (at that moment) unnecessary away goal and got punished
I love the Total Soccer Show guys, but it shows what they know about MLS that they suggested if the USNT had to win a game now they should be starting Parkhurst at CB. lol
Mazembe is more of a fluke than even RSL was. Africa belongs to the oil rich countries. Apparently mls is at a semi pro league in Europe level, except we pretend we're watching an attention worthy product for some reason.
So here's the quick recap of the 1st leg Santos Laguna 2- Red Bull 0 Tigres 2- Houston Dynamo 0 Independiente 2- Sporting KC 1 Monterrey 3 - Atlanta 0 Not good at all ---the MLS teams scored only 1 goal in total in the first leg. While it's possible that Red Bull and the Dynamo could still come back in their respective series, the only team that seems to have a realistic chance right now seems to be KC. Atlanta after tonight's lackluster performance seems to already have 1 foot out the door. The return legs in Mexico (and Panama) are going to show me exactly what these MLS teams are made of. Will they fight or will they just give up? If they lose the 2nd legs i think i'll lose my mind if i hear more of that bs talk "well at least now we can concentrate on what really counts--the MLS regular season."
