MLS landed in 11th on the list of transfer income AND balance for the winter window. The income is pretty much locked in, but the balance is subject to change if TFC and Portland get their DPs.For comparison, on income, #MLS was 18th in 2018 and 46th(!!) in 2017. I've been really curious about this list. Where do I find it? besides twitter? MLS seems to be investing in players more than I ever remember in history. And not just 3-4 teams but across the league. this feels like a great sign for the health and future of the league.
You can find this @ transfermarkt.com, but here's a link. https://www.transfermarkt.com/trans...8&saison_id_bis=2018&land_id=&nat=&pos=&w_s=w
More: Source tells me Long’s new contract puts him ahead of Tim Parker as the highest-paid domestic defender in MLS. Average annual value of deal would’ve put him in top-five among all defenders in 2018, per MLSPA numbers. Likely looking at an average north of $900k per season.— Sam Stejskal (@samstejskal) February 18, 2019
Rapids lock up Acosta through 2023, making him a TAM player at $800K. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...ds-sign-kellyn-acosta-new-three-year-contract
Rapids announce 3 year extensions for Acosta (through 2023), Rosenberry (through 2022), and Rubio (through 2022).

Give half of the transfer fee to whatever RBNY employee managed to get any money at all out of the Chinese team. They earned it.
After drawing interest in January over seas, Mauro Manotas decided to stay put with a 3 year extension. About the first undeniable good thing the club has done this offseasons.
https://www.philadelphiaunion.com/p...50000-allocation-money-chicago-fire-cj-sapong With the Union changing its formation to a 4-4-2 and having 6 forwards (Burke, Santos, Picault, Sapong, Accam and Przybylko) for 2 spots, either Sapong or Accam was likely to go as neither was going to start much: Philadelphia Union announced today that the club has received up to $450,000 in Allocation Money from the Chicago Fire in exchange for forward CJ Sapong. The specifics of the Allocation Money are as follows: $200,000 in 2019 General Allocation Money, $100,000 in 2020 Targeted Allocation Money, and an additional $100,000 in 2019 General Allocation Money to be conveyed to Philadelphia should the Chicago Fire acquire said funds this year. If the Fire do not acquire an additional $100,000 in 2019 General Allocation Money to convey to Philadelphia this season, then that money conveys as GAM in 2020, and the Union also receive $50,000 in 2020 Targeted Allocation Money from Chicago should Sapong hit certain performance incentives in 2019.

Not done yet, but seems to be pretty much a certainty. As @FireConf noted, source tells me that Nico Gaitan to Chicago from China isn't quite done, but is certainly trending that way. Gaitan would be a TAM signing. Also told that Chicago are working to sign 25-year-old Swedish center back Joakim Nilsson from Sweden's IF Elfsborg.— Sam Stejskal (@samstejskal) February 28, 2019
This doesn't solve LA's 4 DP issue (or maybe it does?), but Kamara and Zlatan were never a good fit anyway. The LA Galaxy have transferred Ola Kamara to Shenzhen F.C.: https://t.co/JKgbTqLhGU pic.twitter.com/l9XfiDz8iH— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) February 28, 2019
No. It doesn't. LAG has 4 players that are making over $1.5 million and these players cannot be bought down with TAM. The only way(s) LAG can fix this is: 1. Sell/trade one of those 4 players to another team (inside or outside MLS) 2. Buy out the contracts of one of those 4 players 3. Loan one of those 4 players to another team for the entire MLS season with no return clause 4. Restructure one of the players' contracts in such a way that they are making less than $1.5 million on average so they can buy down their contract with TAM. Kamara's sale does give them a bunch of GAM, but you can't use GAM to buy down the contract for a TAM/DP so that they are below the salary maximum.
