Just curious, he seems like a very passionate CFC supporter and didn't know if he ever popped up now and again on BS or at a pub that you met him. I may not like his smugness, but I love his passion and the fact that football is growing in the USA.
Yep, most of the New York Blues would have met the lad. He also posts on the NY Blues News group (a lot!!! ) You don't like his smugness, just imagine how smug he'll be next week
He's not a big fan of BS but he does post all the time on the NY Blues and US Blues mailing lists. He's actually a really nice guy. I've spoken to him on several occassions. I don't really think he's arrogant so much as that he was raised a Chelsea fan. He can't go on TV and be impartial. It's not in him. It would be the same if he were an Arsenal fan.
That's what I thought, just a regular passionate footie fan. Good stuff. I wonder why BS is no good in his eyes.
I don't want to quote him (so don't) but I think he once said that most people on here are just annoying. I can't say he's all that wrong. I am actually having dinner with him tonight.
Oh I dunno the Chelsea posters seem alright to me, non? As for MLS, might be worth watching it in 20 years time
That's opening a can of worms... Is anyone else going out to dinner tonight with Cohen, the Neat Brothers, other randon US and NY Blues??
She'll be there for sure. BTW...LOVE the avatar. Absolutely LOVE it. Let's hope MK9 can get the job done tomorrow.
Indeed indeed. I'm so damn nervous right now, I need to make some big plans of my own tonight. Get my mind off things and such. ... I can't take credit for the avatar, it is courtesy of the lovely mother_goose from last night's silliness in here. It's brilliant though, but her eyes and my goatee together and VOILA. Loveliness.
YOu know, I was trying to find that thread where you posted something, and I replied that it would be my first signature. For the life of me, I can't find it now.
Hee, I know. And no, not the Geordie porn bit, though that was freaking classic. I just can't remember now, damn.
I find him and his sidekick annoying on their show. I think they try too hard. But hey, it's their show. They can act however they want. enjoy dindin
I came and left BS in its earlier wild west days. Back then there was a very active group at SA. We pish poshed this site quite a bit, but I think that whole SA gang migrated to BS at least 3 or 5 years ago, after the umpteenth screwed up "upgrade" over there. I would tell him he should try BS again. It's not nearly the land of fake toughs it was awhile back.
It's right here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3739416&postcount=30 You said on the page after that, that you were going to make that your sig. A simple search pulled it right up!
Why? They try to hard to do what exactly? I think they are just forthright and honest. It would suck if they came on and just gushed about every team. Instead, they take a stand and give an opinion and aren't afraid to lambast anyone. Even from their own team. Steven was a critical of the firing/resignation of Ranieri as anyone. They love their teams and aren't afraid to show it and do the same for the teams they hate. For better (in my case) or worse (your case) that's the way they run their show. I am just glad that unlike most of the blowhards in the media today, they actually tell you what they think without having an agenda.
I've met him a few times. Seems a decent enough guy. Ardent Blues supporter but at least he's honest about it. And to be fair, has given Arsenal our due. Some criticize their radio and TV shows, and some of the criticism is fair, but they are the vanguards. They are paving the way. They are the first and for that I'm greatful for them. Their show will improve and if it doesn't there will be a better show to come in and replace it. Football has a toehold in America and I don't see it going away. If you recall ESPN in its early days in America were showing darts, aussie rules football and dirt bike racing to fill time. Football shows in the states has to start somewhere. I am for supporting them because if they are successful there can be other shows as well.
