Might as well end with another trademark technical midfielder so I will take Luis Argudo of the Columbus Crew, has a solid rookie season and hopefully can improve on it even more this season. My team is now complete! @ChuckMe92 you’re up.
My last pick goes to US U18 Owen Otasowie. 6-foot-2 midfielder/defender who became the first 2001 to receive a pro deal from Wolves. It was offered early likely in part to ward off interest from other European clubs, rumored to include Ajax, Everton, Juventus, Schalke. He's been playing for Wolves U23 since before his 17th birthday. He seems to have a pretty good combination of skill and power/pace; I recently watched an Instagram story of his in which he did a Cruyff turn on a Burnley player before outrunning him up the pitch and taking a hard foul from another Burnley player. He is currently healthy but has been injury-prone. @zlebmada is up.
With my final pick I'll take Jimmy Ockford, the 26-yr-old centerback for the San Jose Earthquakes. The 11 games he started in 2018 were generally disastrous for San Jose, but I need centerback depth and WhoScored rates him as the 14th-best American at the position in MLS.
My last pick is gonna be Dante Sealy. 1. Brooks 2. Dest 3. Arriola 4. Ebobisse 5. Baird 6. Busio 7. Villafaña 8. Derrick Jones 9. Brendan Aaronson 10. Hamid 11. Jaylin Lindsay 12. Donovan Pines 13. Dantouma Toure 14. Frankie Amaya 15. Cade Cowell 16. Jackson Yueill 17. Trey Muse 18. Dante Sealy
(particular pertinent after today's developments) I think most fans have come to that conclusion now, several months later. At the time that was a pretty controversial statement to make and I'd imagine I was in a small minority who actually believed that, with Durkin being the much more hyped prospect at the same position(s). Durkin was taken in the 5th rd, and Sands the 15th.
Durkins shouldn’t have been taken that high. Everyone and their brother was reaching on young prospects because of the timing of the draft and our failure to qualify for the WC. However, Sands has been better than Durkin this year. Well played.
