Congratulations, you've finally crossed the line from annoying gadfly to hilarious caricature. Are you still on Windows 95 too?
This deal is also about DCU proving that the rights to broadcast their games are worth more than $0. Everyone needs to start somewhere.
The camera for most MLS action sits pretty high up, I don't notice a ton of difference between SD and HD during play (possible disclaimer, I watch mostly SD things on DTV). On field-level close-ups, sure I can see the cut as well as the blood from an elbow It's nicer, mostly, but it's not as drastic as some folks make it out to be.
No as an IT professional I use Windows 10. I also as an IT professional do not jump right away to the newest a coolest things out there. I let things develop and get better and more stable. A lesson I have seen play out over 29 years. Yes an HD picture is sharper but not so sharp that I am willing to pay more money for the privilege of watching it. Sorry this whole HD crying thing that goes on around here all the time makes me laugh.
That's because you shouldn't have to pay more. The fact that your service charges more for HD should be a red flag that you need a better service. Hell, OTA with an antenna doesn't even broadcast in SD anymore. james
It has been 10 years since digital broadcast took over analog and HD 1080i came with it. With the current transition underway to 4K/HDR I can promise you that HD is neither new or cool. You should be all set. james
Without looking at monetary numbers, the Washington Spirit are showing a minimum of 13 games on Monumental Sports Network and NBC Sports Washington for local tv and digital broadcasts. (Apparently also trying to benefit from a women's World Cup year).
Okay, that is why I put the caveat. I remember Major League Soccer's early years when it was essentially a time buy to get the games shown.
I know from experience that ESPN+ is not available in Canada. Any one know who the MLS online provider in Canada is?
DC United replays are STILL BLACKED OUT after the 48 hour window. Even the NYCFC game from last week is also blacked out. I watched the NYCFC last week when it wasn't blacked out but now is. WTF is going on ???
I cancelled my ESPN+ subscription since even DCU replays after 72 hours are still blacked not, not to mention a game more than a week old (vs NYCFC). I urge all fans who cannot watch their local teams on replays (!!!), do the same. Once it hits their pocket books, they will notice. There is more than enough soccer to watch from NBCSN, FoxSportsGo, ESPN3, BEIN Sports, etc .. that we don't need to spend extra disposal income to settle for this BS. Don't forget the 20 min condensed matches are still free via the MLS app.
I just spoke with an ESPN rep and they've changed their policy. In the past, blacked out games would be liberated after 24 or 48 hours (depending on the reason for blackout.) That is not longer true. Now, if a game is blacked out, it's blacked out for ever. That's a real kick in the pants for cord-cutters.
That's really unfortunate. I guess i'll cancel my ESPN+. I liked it better than FloSports because to me it was the better deal - I could watch any MLS game and not pay just to watch DC United away games. I was going to deal with watching the DC United games after the blackout. I pay for season tickets and now I got to pay for away game too. EDIT: and plus I can watch ESPN+ on my TV with my current setup. I don't have a device to play FloSports on my TV.
That is sucktastic, but I guess predictable. A captive audience is only captive if you cover all the exits. I'm fortunate enough to be outside the cone of silence, but only barely, and I live four hours from DC, which means about 5.5 hours from seeing a game. I can't even reasonably day trip an evening game. Fans only 30 minutes closer to DC, in Newport News, are blacked out. Seriously asinine. I'm sure it's gerrymandered down to the dollar Flo thinks they'll need to keep the lights on.
ESPN+ is blacked out til about half a mile south of me. I just use a VPN and it thinks i'm somewhere else and works fine. There are free VPN apps for IPad that I use. Nothing compares to the NBC Sports games I get over my antenna on the tv though. High quality and free... it's just so relaxing.
Do you have a rational argument for this assertion or are you just being a cranky old geezer incapable of surviving in modern society?
