Collin is pretty slow, bet you could catch him. You CAN get a red for dangerous play against your own teammate right?
Interesting bit of info here "Michee Ngalina and Ben Ofeimu, both key members of Steel FC's playoff run in 2018, were invited to training with the Union first team this week."
I think are success or failure this season will depend on the following: Can our outside backs step up to the plate? Can our center backs take a step forward in their growth? Santos must make a significant impact. We can't afford to have another Jay Simpson. Will a healthy Accam regain his past form? Without Dockal, who will create? The problem is that there are so many question marks that we have a number of positions that we are essentially rolling the dice on. If all goes right, we could make some waves, but I could also see this team being a disaster.
Sounds about right...just like every season in the Union's short history: Roll the dice and keep your fingers crossed for a happy accident. The Bob Ross Method[emoji2399] to building a winning team.
The Union path to success every year is ALWAYS contingent on other teams failing. This team can't make it's own success so they need to hope other teams drop the ball.
Bob Ross had talent. This team is still trying to paint by number, and their work is not selling well. Bob could turn a smudge into a mountain, this team turns them into cap space vampires and shrimp consumption machines.
https://www.liga3-online.de/wuerzburger-kickers-kai-wagner-vor-wechsel-in-die-usa/ 21 y/o German left back Kai Wagner (Wurzburger Kickers - German 3rd Division) signing with MLS team and linked (at least on twitter) to the Union, mainly due to Ernst Tanner scouring the lower divisions of Europe for other younger players to fill out the roster (e.g. Przbylko, Coronel, trialist Scintu). Wagner's contract expires this summer - used to play for Schalke youth team. Valued at $325K on transfermarkt. Asume Curtin would start Real at left back and have a mostly Homegrown backline and Wagner would play if Real struggles while Fabinho gets the odd game prior to moving to the academy coaching ranks. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kai-wagner/profil/spieler/357842
Germany's Main Post reporting that Würzburger Kicker leftback Kai Wagner will join #MLS franchise Philadelphia Union. #ThisIsPhilly https://t.co/raqtqLJ6eC— Manuel Veth (@ManuelVeth) February 4, 2019 More smoke. This team has signed a left back. Amazing. Now we just need upgrades at 5 other positions...
My take on the Kai Wagner reports:The Union overachieved last year. They are getting perilously close in the roster building to relying on overachieving yet again. That's not a great strategy— Matthew De George (@sportsdoctormd) February 4, 2019
That Kai got Hacked. He was clearly talented, as evident by him getting PT in the B1 the following season while with Hoffenheim. Most of Hacks roster/lineup decisions were baffling. Ending Herdling's loan early after benching him for Keon, relegating Kleberson to the bench in favor of Keon (again) & an out of position Marfan, not protecting Mapp in the expansion draft, Danny Cruz, Corben Bone,....etc....
We go after some kid from the 3rd division in Germany. Meanwhile, NYCFC signs an international striker for $9.5MM. Seems about right.
Jim Curtin and our technical staff are able to get more out of players than anyone else. Just ask Jay Simpson.
The silver lining to Wagner's signing is JT's commentary ... But yes, Kai Wagner has been meeting with the Union. He’s 21, was with Schalke’s B team, and is now with German 3rd-tier team Würzburger Kickers. As best I can tell he took over Würzburger’s left back spot from Júnior Díaz, who was Costa Rica’s starter at the 2014 World Cup.— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) February 4, 2019
