Congrats to Qatar. They deserve it. Scoring almost 20 goals and conceding only once in the tournament. Not to mention they had the hardest route to the final.
we make fun of him pre-tournament but now we acknowledge his predictions because our team went out like he predicted
Lol... If the internal middle eastern soft power war against Qatar results in Qatar being stripped of the AFC champions title due to two ineligible players, that will be hilarious.
Qatar too strong... Maybe we should do the same thing they do. Get some immigrants and teach them some Korean.
We send out our eSports players to represent other countries. It's all supply and demand. There's plenty of good soccer players willing to move.
Just saw highlights of Japan-Qatar game. Japanese keeper let in a very soft overhead kick goal. Qatar got a BS PK on a handball that shouldn't have been given. I think the 3-1 scoreline flatters Qatar. Of course, I didn't see the entire game, so I may be off.
Last time I checked there is already one Korean youth player in the ASPIRE academy which basically is a direct line to the Qatar national team.
I'm very happy that Qatar won vs Japan, but it's really disappointing to me that teams like Qatar and Iraq won the Asian Cup in 2 of the last 5 editions while we haven't won it since 1960. I really do hope we win the next edition.
smh show iraq some respect got nothing but admiration for their ac07 run. Massive achievement considering what the country had been going through, and younis mahmoud was the business. Also don’t think they had any personnel controversies unlike qatar plus they hadn’t been working for years on end to create some super team so v, v different circumstances
Don't get me wrong, I admire their run of 07; I think they fully deserved it, especially with the circumstances at the time. I'm just saying that it is disappointing that having some of the players we had over the years and being known as one of Asia's best team for years, we haven't won the Asian cup since 1960. I really do hope that we win the next edition.
IIRC, it wasn't until 2007 or 2011 that all the top AFC teams agreed to take the competition seriously by sending their best players. I think the teams and players themselves are confused on just how important this tournament is. Based on how well SHM played against Watford, it's likely that he didn't fully commit himself to the Asian Cup and who can blame him.
Congratulations Qatar. Fantastic tournament and glad to see they won this game fair and square without wasting time even when they were up 2-1. Liked the fact that they weren't complaining to the when he initially didn't call the penalty.
before being accused of hopping on the #Qatarbandwagon, I would like to point out that I had always liked Qatar's colored kits. Love their national purple/red hue.
