I’m going to select Joe Scally. I’m kind of surprised he’s still on the board. @thedukeofsoccer is up
James Sands, CDM/CB, NYCFC He's the best, likeliest to actually play (reportedly), and probably the most versatile NYCFC player taken in recent rounds.Might actually be a more reliable solid pro than Durkin, who was taken a long time ago. Durkin started out with a team a lot friendlier to Americans, and while Durkin is a killer passer, Sands is pretty good, while having better evasive and defensive abilities due to physical tools. @Kevin8833 you're back OTC.
I’m going to take my insurance policy and take Tyler Miller if LAFC as my second GK, very happy to have two extremely solid keepers. @ChuckMe92 you’re up!
I'm going to select 6-foot-3 striker Mason Toye of Minnesota United. This will give me two young American towers at forward including Brandon Vazquez. The manager has said in a press conference that the Indiana Hoosiers product is in contention for a starting job. Toye has been making some noise in preseason so far. It should also be noted that Abu Danladi has some history of injuries and has not been playing in preseason so far. I doubt Toye will actually be a consistent starter in MLS this season but it's reasonable to think he will get regular minutes as a substitute along with starts here and there. Internationally, Toye has played for the US U19s and should be in the pool for the upcoming U23 cycle if he can play regularly in MLS. Some early preseason buzz about #MNUFC sophomore striker Mason Toye. New Jersey native stayed in Minnesota in offseason to train, looks stronger as camp opens and scored opening goal in 9v9 scrimmage Wednesday.— Andy Greder (@andygreder) January 23, 2019 The team is scrimmaging (9v9)on the training ground now. Some quick observations• Mitchell Osmond is a very aggressive defender, and very vocal as well. • Mason Toye is making creative runs we didn’t see from him last year. • Romario and Angelo look good in attack.— Northland Soccer Journal (@NorthlandSoccer) January 23, 2019 TOYE AGAIN#MNUFC | #1-9 https://t.co/pEc3o69UyZ— Minnesota United FC (@MNUFC) January 29, 2019 @zlebmada has the next two picks.
I'll take 18-yr-old Real Salt Lake homegrown goalkeeper David Ochoa and 19-yr-old New England Revolution homegrown forward Justin Rennicks. Ochoa was the #2 goalkeeper for the U.S. U20s in the Conacaf Championship run, but in limited action he looked good, he's eligible for the U20 World Cup in 2021, and he's above average with the ball at his feet. Rennicks was one of the surprises of the same tournament. He's a highly-mobile No. 9 who excels in the build-up and moves intelligently. Though his technique and finishing are probably not elite he outplayed Sebastian Soto in that tournament and made a strong case to be included in the U20 World Cup roster in May. He can play on the wing as well if need be.
For my 15th-round pick, I select US youth international Kyle Scott of Chelsea. He'll provide depth for me throughout midfield at AM, CM, and DM. He's made his senior cup debut for Chelsea playing as a #6 against Hull City. Scott's play there appears not unlike that of he-who-defected-to-El-Tri. Scott has also shown signs of potential as a #10, having been named to the Eerste Divisie XI of the Week while on loan to Telstar. This is not a bad pick at all for Round 15. Right now, Scott is rumored to be going on loan to Ascoli of Serie B. Most important thing about Kyle Scott is that he's bringing back the mullet for the USA at Chelsea. Here's his first touch today. A good one to get himself away from pressure and knock it back to the keeper. pic.twitter.com/4VvG00bOak— scuffed (@scuffedpod) February 16, 2018 He followed the mistake by springing a dangerous counter, tho. pic.twitter.com/BCd6JH73Mn— scuffed (@scuffedpod) February 16, 2018 Interception. pic.twitter.com/f8Wb67nK2m— scuffed (@scuffedpod) February 16, 2018 @Kevin8833 is on the clock.
I am going to take a little risk here and get back on the attack (probably for the last time) and select Siad Haji, the second overall pick in the MLS draft. My concern is if he will get minutes but I believe he has the quality to succeed if given the chance and I have a feeling Almeyda may be the type of coach to give him a chance. @thedukeofsoccer you’re now on the clock.
Brandt Bronico, CM, Chicago They call him "Creative" Brandt Bronico in the Windy City. OK, it's somewhat a tongue in cheek shot at how he's sold by the brass, but when moving up the park a little he is pretty creative. 4 assists in 8 starts as a box-to-box. He was very productive in college with 48 goals+assists in 74 games. I could use him in either an 8 or 10 spot in my press system. The Fire moved him back to a deeper position out of need, and it curtailed his ascendance temporarily. Can evade defenders, has good vision for thru balls, can shoot from distance pretty well, and isn't a ball-winner per se but opportunistic on loose balls which Adams would create plenty of. @Lookingforleftbacks it's your turn.
Again, I’m kind of surprised my next pick is still on the board. I’m going to go with Ricardo Pepi. He just turned 15 a couple weeks ago and was the first player signed by North Texas SC. I’ve been rewatching the Nike Friendly against Turkey and he’s every bit as good as I remember. He’s tall, fast, very technical, has a high work rate on both sides of the ball, makes good runs, and combines well with his teammates. He has a ridiculous 19 goals in 8 U-17 DA games, and just scored with an FC Dallas U-19 team against a Mexico U-18 team in Mexico. He was in a Mexico camp in March, so obviously we have to be able to hold onto him. I think playing in the USL and being surrounded by US youth internationals gives us a pretty good chance. I think if he had scored the acrobatic attempt at 0:50, he’d be a youth favorite right now and everyone would still be excited about him: It’s @Matthew Hartman ‘s turn
I'm gonna take Cade Cowell. He's an 03 winger with the San Jose Quakes who is physically developed enough to get MLS minutes this year. A high school track star, Cowell might be the fastest player in the whole YNT pool. Hopefully the revamped SJ staff can work on his passing ability, as that is what's holding him back from being a blue chip prospect. @truefan420 @GiallorossiYank
He’s a little bit of a luxury with what we have already drafted but we are very pleased to draft the new American in Toronto Terrence Boyd. He’s got great hold up play and we hope that he will bounce back and find his form in TFC. @AutoPenalti you’re up
Patrick Mullins, I’m really winging my picks at this point of the round. @IndividualEleven @Eleven Bravo
@IndividualEleven and I select: Jake Nerwinski Just in case; Chandler has any unexpected setbacks, we appreciate that Nerwinski is a starting caliber right back who can solidify our back line. @jond
I'm selecting Niko Gioacchini of Caen. That's him winning the Golden Boot as the top 00' in the greater Paris region. Paname Foot also selected him as the top '00 in Paris for the 2018 season. Nick Gioacchini has been on top of his game since signing with @SMCaen this summer, here are his final fall 2018 season stats as Caen heads into their Winter Break:• U19’s (#1 in France): 6 goals, 6 games• Reserves: 3 goals, 7 gamesUSYNT callup on the horizon? 👀🤔#RepDMV pic.twitter.com/5QohPFIno9— DMV Soccer (@DMVSoccer96) December 27, 2018 @ShaftBrewer
I'm up and am taking Brady Scott and Jack Maher. Scott is the #1 in net for the US U20s. He's been a staple for the squad and is the preferred choice for Koln II. A big U20 WC could see him progress up the Koln depth chart. Maher is going to be the best player in NCAA soccer next year. He's a quick, left footed CB who is good on the ball, an excellent passer and at times the leader of an Indiana squad that included 5 future pro's (HG x 3, MLS top 10 draft pick and a player purchased by Celtic). Maher reminds me of a young Matt Besler. One to watch for sure. @ShaftBrewer
@jond time is up. You can pick at any time, but let’s keep rolling @IndividualEleven and I are proud to select: ANDREW WOOTEN Wooten has quietly put in another good season at SV Sandhausen. He can play centrally up or at the wing forward positions. This late in the draft. This is a steal. He would start still for most teams in the draft. @AutoPenalti you’re up.
Señoras y Señores, I pick Joel Sonora. https://streamable.com/4q06h Scored a nice goal today, but other than that he just tips fedoras for people. @GiallorossiYank
We select versatile wingback Shea Salinas. While he spent most of last year on the left he can also play on the right. As a former mid he fits perfectly as an attacking wingback in our system. @Matthew Hartman youre up
I’m going to select Justin Garces with my 16th pick. He had a couple games with Atl 2 last year and then went to UCLA, who was... mediocre, and I think a lot of people either forgot about him or wrote him off. But keepers are like hockey goalies. They don’t make the all-star game if they’re on a bad team. UCLA was 10-9 and he was 7-7, but he was the best Freshman keeper they’ve had since 2000. He has great reflexes and can make the spectacular save. There’s no doubt in my mind that he belongs in the same conversation as guys like Las, Ochoa, and Scott and it’s still too early to say how those 4 should be ranked (or if there are more to consider). @thedukeofsoccer go ahead
Thomas Roberts, attacking mid, FC Dallas Recent homegrown signing for theirs, although it may just wind up to get the transfer fee from Bayern, where he impressed on a training stint. The alternative is he gets opportunities this season under FCD's new manager who just transferred from their academy as well. Or he gets loaned to USL. Creative, technical, and savvy player who still has to grow into his own body. @Kevin8833 you're on the clock.
