As much as I like Moondog's ideas, this time he's gone too far. KCH should start as RM without a doubt, with HHC and JWY as backups. On long term, this should be our NT: ---------------SHJ SHM-------LKI-------KCH ---------PSH-----DM LB-----KYG----KMJ----KMH ---------------CHW or, more experimental, a diamond 4-4-2: -----------SHM----KCH ------------------LKI ---------LJS----------PSH ------------------DM LB-----KYG---------KMJ-----KMH ------------------CHW What we need is a classic DM. Paik is wasted as DM, KJM is nowhere near NT level (and neither a DM), HIB should be backup to Paik and JWY should make way for others. For the time being, I would go with Choi Young Joon if he does well at Jeonbuk. I don't care about his age. He will "only" be 31 at the WC. Others like Hwang Ki Wook (96), Suwon's Kim Jun Hyeong (96), Jang Yun Ho (96) and Cho Yu Min (96) could also be options. There is also Lee Jung Moon (98), who just signed with Daejeon. He's a Fellaini type of CM/DM (195 cm). And Lee Seung Won (97) from St.Pauli II could be an option, once he gets promoted. Park Joo Ho would be another option, too but he is needed as LB (also don't know when he'll retire).
have you seen him play as DM? when he was playing in U17 & U20 team, he played as CB. i personally rated him highly. similar to Tomiyasu but superior (athletically)... just, no one seemed to rate him. it still seems to be the case as he barely features for KNT youth atm edit - have no idea how he has developed over the yrs but Fellaini would be the last guy i would compare him to based on his previous performance (and skill set he has tbh).
There is not much material about him, but he seems to have undergone a positional change. He has often played in midfield as a CM, CDM or even CAM. I guess it depends, on which position Go Jong Su sees him, and whether he can make the transition from university to pro level. If he gets playing time, he will get his chances in the U22/23.
that I know.. as defensive mid/holding mid type of player from few articles but CAM?? the F... until I see him play, still think it is unfair to compare him to Fellaini.. who is nothing but a hack. edit - anyways, real shame. i thought he was a top CB prospect in his age group (Japan & Korea combined).
Well I wasn't comparing him based on his playing style as I honestly don't know kt that well. Was talking about his position and height (also read that he is very strong in the air, which was the reason he got used as CAM. you know... bbung chook gu) Btw you liked my post?
Why is Choi Young Jun of Gyeongnam/Jeonbuk (now Jeonbuk) not getting a chance to play for our KNT? Let's try him out and see if he can be good as our DM. Choi Young Jun, Park Ji Soo, and Marcao are the reasons why Gyeongnam finished 2nd last year.
I wasn't as big of a fan, but he certainly did contribute. Still, the three guys I mentioned were the key key players for them last year. Let's give Choi Young Jun a shot. I'm not saying he'll be the solution, but maybe he can be something for us as a DM. Edit: misspelled his name lol
maybe, who knows? i don't have much faith in the K League system w/ bloated squads. he & Tomiyasu are extremely similar. both are two footed too i believe. i was really disappointed to see him play 2nd fiddle to guys like Jung TW (what happened to him?) & Lee SM.
JTW recently got sold to Daegu from Jeju. I guess he's too slow for pro level. And LSM has gone to 2nd J-League I think (you prob know it better)? Anyway both will never be NT material and I don't have any clue why LSM got called up in the U22 squad.
thought it was clear at U17/20 lvl. he was nothing but talentless tall hack for me. as for Lee SM, yea..joined Nagasaki on loan. doubt he will play much tbh. he has to beat out Cho KB as I don't see their captain.. Takasugi being benched for Lee SM.
Not going to happen. I even think he might retire from football before 2022 WC (he once said in an interview that he would like to retire earlier than other players).
They will be missed. Captain Ki has been far and away my favorite national team player since he debuted. I’ll always remember their medal run in ‘12 Olympics. KJC losing his mind in the win over Japan still cracks me up. It’s bittersweet that the same generation never got to shake things up in other international tournaments. Wishing these two all the best.
I mean, KSY is the biggest glow up in KNT history. Going from, "답답하면 니들이 뛰던지," and a monkey celebration against Japan to Captain Ki and 기묵직. If anything, KSY is a great example of why you SHOULD get married.
Against a parked bus, it's actually not a bad idea to have KCH (and perhaps HHC) play as a fullback. At the very least, he would create space, execute passes and get crosses into the box unlike our current LBs...
this idea feels like massive waste of Kwon CHs talent, especially when you consider he is one of the few who has proven he can score at higher lvl than Asia & in good EU league. also, i think we need to wait at least a yr or so to see if he is fully back from his recent injury. Lee JS as LB or even RB.. is one I'm willing to entertain though. if he wants to make it to 2022 WC, i think it is his best chance. transition/transform himself as Park JH type of fullback, who is smart in possession.
I honestly don't know how to beat this park bus tactics tbh. We're in this weird transition where we're one of the best team in Asian so we need to play against a parked bus, but in the WC we're a minnow so we also need a different tactic. So we essentially need to build our team based on 2 different play style... But it beat a parked bus, I think we really need wingers and fullbacks that can cross and strong tall players that can just put the ball in the net or some shit. I really don't know how to get around this for us.
