Not sure if we'd give out any MOTM awards to our guys tonight, but AMN & Cech might be in the running. Edit: I knew it was risky to write that with 10 mins to go. Shortly afterwards Cech pushes a shot back to an onrushing Martial. TBF, the big reason for that goal was not the keeper.
He's trying to play a more pressing style but has learnt they don't have the personnel for the job. Some have underperformed, some are injured, and some simply aren't cut for this approach. I'd wager Ozil would be easier to replace right now than Emery.
Well I'm glad that worked out so well today! Just when we'd regained a decent CB partnership, we lose them both in the same match. Nothing we could do about either of those injuries... except perhaps have an owner who could fund a squad the likes of Citeh.
Ozil has been such a noodle all game . Then again this game summarizes his Arsenal career in a nutshell
Couple things. 1) He hasn't played in a month, so no kidding, he looked rusty. 2) He has 114 combined goals and assists in 213 games for Arsenal.
Are you really going to drop "stats" on me ? Padding those goals/assist vs minions won't change the fact he's been lackluster vs Big Clubs. The same ole same ole groundhog day.
I think we can desist with taking Iwobi off the field. Say what you will about his final ball, but he transitions, defends, retains possession, and penetrates. The attack always stops once he comes off. We have tried taking him off, it has never worked. A shape change would have been better than that sub and everyone on this board knows it. We finished with a completely different set of CBs than we started... this injury thing is getting irksome.
Counters have been this club's achilles since, what, '08? It's just in the past Arsenal have been able to score more and keep the game tilted in their favor more frequently. Seriously I would love to see a Stat about how many of the goals surrendered have come from counter attacks.

Let’s not get carried away. We lost to a united team that is on a bounce. Hopefully it’s a dead cat bounce but they are still in the middle of it whatever it is. I mean we were out done by two brilliant passes by LUKAKU of all people—in 12 mins! What are the odds of that? I won’t blame cech for the loss, but I think he was terrible honestly. He could have easily dealt with the third goal which killed us. Also, his positioning was poor on the second goal in my opinion. That said we still dominated the game. However, none of our flicks, reverse passes, or crosses fell to friendly feet or heads though. Then the game state put us up against the country ter which is our week point especially when you lose two CBs. I saw flashes of ozil when he came on but then nothing. We also lost a lot of the agression without iwobi and with Ramsey moves out left. Individually I thought Ramey and iwobi were both decent but they have a real disconnect and missed many of each other’s runs. Also Ramsey and Laca with a few wasteful potshots when there were better options. AMN. Don’t know where to start honestly. He is so good in duals, but his positioning and use of the ball is poor. Time to give jenko a try I think. Bottom line—this game sucked bc the injuries. We played well enough and were setup to win, it just didn’t happen.
The goal stats are rough on AMN I feel he had a great game. Auba isn't a winger and it showed in our use of the right flank. I do think Jenks should get games though, even if just to boost his value a bit. I dontd think he is as bad as ppl have made out. If it was just execution I would be onside with the Ozil defence. But, his movement was bad, his starting positions bad, his use of the half space bad, he has never been a scraper so I'll ignore him not seeming up for it. This match needed aggression and that is not Ozil at the best of times
Right on. Exactly what it was. And he's day-to-day. So hopefully we'll see him soon, if not Tuesday then next weekend. Speaking of Tuesday...
What I forgot to mention was the bad news from this match. Sokratis did his ankle pretty badly and he won't even be able to train on it for a month, if their estimate is correct. This. Really. Sucks. Kossok (or Sokkos?) was just starting to gel as a decent quality pairing.
I'm getting really tired of United keepers playing Sith Lord at the Emirates. xG map for Arsenal - Manchester United the chances were there for the Gunners to pull off a comeback... pic.twitter.com/mnBvoQxB4l— Caley Graphics (@Caley_graphics) January 28, 2019
Why not take the bull by the horns? p.s. If nobody else does, I will. But I've been in relatively recent rotation so I figured I should give people a break.
