There is only one person that you can give credit to.. Anthony Hudson. he's the only decision maker that has changed between this offseason and last offseason.
Word is that Joao Plata is being pursued by both Argentine and Mexican teams (or so says his agent. Might have legs as RSL apparently made an offer for Gronnigen winger Mimoun Mahi.
I’m told the New England Revolution have completed the signing of U.S. U-20 and Indiana University forward Justin Rennicks to a Homegrown Player contract. #NERevs #MLS— Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) January 17, 2019
Pending a medical, Minneosta United have agreed to terms with Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims and, as of earlier today, to a 2-year contract with 28-year-old right back Romain Métanire. https://t.co/yfWrvb7gO8— MLS Buzz (@MLS_Buzz) January 17, 2019 Looks like there could be an announcement soon.

This isn't MLS related except that it has to do with some players S2 signed. NCFC signed Duval Wapiwo on loan from MFK Vyskov of the Czech 3rd division. Why is that interesting? He is the third player from that team to go on loan to NCFC. There are an additional 2 players that S2 has on loan and FCD's team in USL1 signed another on loan. And they are all from Africa originally and most are teenagers. Gets even stranger in that last year they signed two players from USL squads and another from NY Cosmos B and two of those three players are back on loan in the USL in either the Championship or League 1. Just strange.
From having watched a lot of Opare the past couple of years, he's pretty solid defensively, but pretty awful with the ball at his feet. He's not a bad pickup at all.
A rumor that quickly has gained legs. Carlos Vela to Barcelona. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019/01/18/report-are-fc-barcelona-targeting-lafc-star-carlos-vela

Portland Timbers are working on signing a young DP forward and have narrowed in on two options, per a source. The first is playing in Mexico; the other is Ezequiel Ponce, an Argentine on loan from Roma at AEK Athens. Discussions ongoing with both. #RCTID— Paul Tenorio (@PaulTenorio) January 19, 2019
I believe this pipeline of "obscure foreign lower level teams to US clubs" is the work of the infamous Rainbow Sports Investments, the player agency known for placing West African teenage players on these obscure teams to acclimate them to playing in a foreign country and getting them some exposure for future transfer purposes. The Czech team, likes others in Thailand and elsewhere, are usualy the launch points for these players after starting their careers, mainly in Cameroon. The players are often registered with Rainbow FC of Bamenda, a lower division team in Cameroon, in what many view as a workaround that Rainbow Sports Investment can own the players' rights as a 3rd party. Rainbow FC often loans its players with the hope of eventually getting a transfer fee down the road. The Rainbow MLS pipeline has included Ambriose Oyongo (NYRB, Montreal), Eric Ayuk (Philadelphia), Olivier Mbaizo (Philadelphia), Anatole Abang (NYRB), Hassan Ndam (NYRB, Cincinnati), Bertrand Owundi Eko'o (Minnesota) and Charles Elondou (Colorado).
🚨 Fenerbahçe will NOT sign Houston Dynamo attacker Alberth Elis! The two clubs failed to agree on a transfer fee. Fenerbahçe offered $6 million, but the Dynamo wanted $8 million for the 22-year-old. Pity Martinez has just given an interview in the Buenos Aires airport about half an hour ago, confirming that he is indeed getting ready to board a flight. His destination? Atlanta. His arrival time? 5:30 am. #ATLUTD pic.twitter.com/m6IWLc19Hp— MLS Buzz (@MLS_Buzz) January 20, 2019
