I agree his background isn't stellar for vets. He could quickly overcome that by what he does but could just as easily cement it the other way. I see the need for signing the forward and defender but another central mid and another winger signed for big $ would make it very difficult for the HG's that are most ready for minutes. Don't hand it to them but don't block them by bringing in expensive signings at their position. I see the FCD way as giving paths to players that are ready and filling in at spots that don't have players ready with really good to great DP's. Even the defender signing wouldn't be necessary if I was sure Richards would be here next year. But Servania, Pomykol and Ferreira are ready to challenge so don't block their paths (unless their are future trades of FCD vets involved after new signings).
Gremio fans really hate this guy... The comments on all of the social media posts are hilarious. Internet comment sections, lol.
Apparently they blame him for Gremio’s Copa Libertadores exit. Buzz has an interesting article on the Bressan signing: https://sportsday.dallasnews.com/soccer/soccer/2018/12/21/fc-dallas-signs-brazilian-defender-bressan
Ouch. That's rough for him as that could've happened to any player. Maybe lady luck is on our side for once?
It will be interesting to see what Luchi does with players. Will he have his favorites (like most coaches) and play them no matter what or will he truly rotate the squad or does he value different things like possession and passing through the lines for his central defenders?
So how does Bressan fit in? Backup for Hedges and Reto? Backup for outside backs too? Replacement for Hedges or Reto? Could he play Dmid?
I'd say for the moment a replacement for Figueroa who played several positions on the back line and could spell starters and be third CB to close out games.
Reports from Honduras are suggesting FC Dallas have sealed the signing of 25-year-old Honduran international midfielder Bryan Acosta for $3 million. Thoughts, FC Dallas fans? #FCD #MLS pic.twitter.com/EpvL3dpi7W— MLS Buzz (@MLS_Buzz) December 30, 2018
I don't get that signing unless Gruezo is on the way out. Now maybe what I've heard of Acosta isn't the full story but I think we all felt like there needed to be a better miz than having two defensive mids out there at the same time. Thought Hayes, Pomykol and Servania were ready to fight for minutes. Now they could be blocked by an expensive purchase.
Haven't there been rumblings about Gruezo leaving all year or am I misremembering him with someone else? I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted a pay raise and this guy is a cheaper alternative.
Seems lots of people have guessed he's leaving but haven't heard anything official. The Acosta signing just makes more sense if Gruezo leaves as it leaves time for the HG's to get minutes.
Gruezo is not leaving . Acosta is a box to box midfielder, and will pair better with Gruezo, than Ulloa ever did. PS FCD tried to sign Bryan Acosta this past summer. They thought they had a deal in place for 2.2 million. Bryan Acosta, would replace the departing Kellyn Acosta. Tenerife changed its mind at the end, and gave Acosta a new contract instead.
Report from Brazil that Vasco da Gama is looking to bring in Gruezo. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...gama-eyeing-loan-move-fc-dallas-carlos-gruezo
Do we over value our players? Castillo to Turkey, Acosta to CRapids and now possibly Gruezo to Vasca da Gama? Gruezo came from the Bundesliga and has been one of our better players. If he can't get a sniff back from Europe now I'm beginning to understand why we never did anything in the playoffs.
A little surprised that Gruezo might go to Brazil but he has only found form recently, so maybe he needed more time before a European team would be watching. Castillo would've gone to a bigger club if he would've been a tad more patient. Finished the season with us (possibly won a trophy or two) and then moved the following summer after his stock went up further. Acosta was/is just not in the best place mentally and form-wise.
No. Vasco doesn't have the money to buy Gruezo. They're in debt, and can't even pay their utility bills.
You guys know anything about Marcelo Palomino. He is a former Houston Dynamo academy player. He got an invite to the U.S. U19 camp, and is listed as unattached. Here's the interesting thing, he is listed as being from Frisco, Texas. Palomino is not from Frisco. What do you guys think?
Aren't we already fighting with the Orange Scum about signing a player that we developed because he somehow qualified as a homegrown for them? Can't imagine this would go any better if he's a former academy player.
Could he sign a USL deal first then if he makes the grade get an MLS one? What, if anything, does HG mean when a USL team is involved?
Source: U.S. U-20 CB Chris Richards' move from FC Dallas to Bayern Munich is complete. FCD will receive a low seven-figure fee w/ sell-on clause for the Alabama native, who spent second half of 2018 on loan to Bayern. @SoccerByIves reported last month move was being finalized.— Sam Stejskal (@samstejskal) January 5, 2019
Did he get released from the Creamsickles? That would make a difference. Can't imagine he'd be worth pursuing if Houston doesn't want him though. Unless their youth identifying skills are just putrid which may be the case.
