Why so negative? He just signed a home grown player, don't you know? Now, he is taking the rest of the week off to bask in the glow of this accomplishment...

Is it just me, or is it weird that all five of the Revs HG players are midfielders?

Good timing! They just signed Espino, the LB I mentioned in my last post:

He is 26 and has spent the last 5 years playing for Club National in Uruguay. He has 167 appearances and 14.4k minutes played across the Uruguayian pro league (and their playoffs) and both the copa libertadores and copa sudamerica (CONMEBOL's version of the CL and Europa League). In that time he has 5 goals and 14 assists playing exclusively left back.

    Looks like our new starter

Unless you have something new, Julian said he's not signed yet. Someone else tweeted that it was a done deal quoting Julian, and he responded. It does look like it is still a possibility though.

good catch, I just got excited. My fault for having hope that we'd have a real LB

Obviously Friedel signed the home grown player. He is responsible for signings. That point has been hammered home here over and over and over. So why does Burns need to bask?

You gotta do what you do best! Sure, signing 6 starters who will be among the top 50 players in the league would be nice, but hey, who can do that? But you do the things you can, and if you can find a clever way to bask (as long as it's within budget), that's what you do. Put the biscuit in the basket!

Yes, defend. But also, get forward, overlap, put in consistent, quality crosses, ...

We have needed outside backs who are legitimate attacking threats since, like, forever. And, to paraphrase a former Celtic coach "Jordi Alba ain't walking through that door".

I like the fact that he's got a bunch of starts at LB at a top club in a competitive league, with some international experience. This isn't a converted anything, hybrid anything - he's a left back, period.

There was an article on the net that a British (I think) club is signing away Friedel's fitness director.

Perhaps that's the back story to this tweet.

Too true. Heaps may have been one of the last of those legitimate threats. At the very least, we haven’t had anyone reliable on the cross since the mid- to late Nicol era. It’s one of the things I’ve found most frustrating in the Heaps and Friedel regimes - a near complete absence of offensive threat from our outside backs. We used to be so much better....

The real news is that Espino's agent was in Foxboro to discuss Espino signing for the Revs. His contract in Uruguay expires at the end of 2018, so he would be a free transfer for 2019.

The fake part was that I saw a tweet that he has actually signed already. There is no confirmed signing as of yet, but his signing is a very real possibility. Because of the timing on his contract Espino would not be announced until 2019

Well, “personal” reasons can mean a lot of things, from, well, personal stuff like family or deciding he’d rather live in the UK, a better job opportunity or whatever. Or, maybe he realizes that the Revs/Krafts have zero inclination to make this organization even 54.836% of what it could be with a little effort, smarts, and money.

We won’t know, but they better not decide to forego hiring a competent replacement.

Several trades during the two hour trade window yesterday. As suspected nothing involving the Revs.

No need for rebuilding here. The Rev are exactly where their ownership wants them to be.

    Nowhere.

Should the Pats fill their shorts this year, or anytime soon, there might be a vague sense of urgency to improve the bastard child of KSG, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Free agency begins right after the draft today. there are a few players on the list that could probably make an impact. Be nice to bring Parkhurst back in a player/coach type role. A healthy Osvaldo would be a good additon

Its my understanding that they're reneogiating a new contract for Parkhurst. Its also my understanding that Parky would rather walk on legos than come back to the Revs

How can that be? Burns is such a nice guy

Thought I read somewhere yesterday that he's accepted an offer in Europe?

Was nice to watch 2 xRevs get their championship ring YEARS after they left here

Also interesting to see the activity around the league with trades and all. As usual, none for the Revs. I wonder if BF as figured out that this is how it ALWAYS GOES. Year after year after year... Burns does NOTHING until all the talent is gone

What if Michael Parkhurst were to learn that the New England Revolution's long-gestating soccer-specific stadium is going to be built out of LEGO bricks?!?!?

    (You know... like, someday.)

As a father and uncle (and a fan myself), I can attest that this Lego structure would be Waaaaay too expensive for this organization. Much more expensive than Tony Frias III brand concrete.

On that note... What position did Tony play? Is he available?
