Does anyone know anything about him? He's a 24-year-old center-back who's been starting for Kortrijk in the Belgian Jupiler League this season. I have to think the jupiler league is pretty close to the Eredivisie as far as level of play goes, so if Miazga's play in the Eredivisie was enough to get him a cap, Hines-Ike seems like someone who should at least get an invite to the January camp, no? Wikipedia says he's in the process of getting an Irish passport and that the Irish F.A. are interested in him: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brendan_Hines-Ike
Check out the Yanks Abroad thread on him. https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/brendan-hines-ike-at-kv-kortrijk-belgium.2021384/ There you go. His Irish citizenship and everything else is in there somewhere. Only 11 pages, so not too bad.
The Jupiler League is ahead of the Eredivisie in the UEFA coefficients. For the last five complete seasons, the Jupiler League is 9th and the Eredivisie is 14th. For the last four complete seasons and 2018-2019 so far, the Jupiler League is 8th and the Eredivisie is 11th. The Eredivisie used to be ranked higher.
That's interesting. I wouldn't have thought that the Jupiler League is ranked higher. I just read through the thread in Yanks Abroad that @gunnerfan7 posted the link to, and it looks like Hines-Ike has been acquitting himself well (he was named Kortrijk's player of the month in August and had one game where he was man of the match). Sure seems to me like he's earned a call in to camp. I would say the January camp, but I'm not sure it falls during an international break.
