Schalke have only scored more than 2 goals in a single game once all season coming into this game; they score 5 on the day Haji gets his debut. Coincidence? Nope. Haji Wright is the next Lionel Messi, confirmed. In all seriousness, Schalke were dangerous all game, even before their opponent went down to 10 men. For a team that has lacked bite all season, they had their best offensive showing of the year on the day 2 of their 'top' strikers were hurt. Their strikers combined for 7 goals over 3403 minutes, or 1 goal every 486 minutes/only 1 goal every 5 games coming into this match. There is an opportunity to Haji to have some sort of break through if he can keep showing well in training. Getting in today over Di Santo is a really good sign.
Glad to see him get first team minutes today! I thought he looked just fine out there in his limited minutes. Hope to see more of him.
Kid looks like he spent about half of the last two years in the gym. (especially the 3rd photo) Probably finally stopped growing for long enough to put on some weight. Wouldn't be surprised if that's had a big impact on his progress. Credit to him for putting in the work. https://www.instagram.com/p/BqW_BaPlxuu/
what stood out to me more than anything is how big and tall he is! he'd be dangerous on corners/crosses into the box!
What stood out to me is that he actually showed some aggression and hustle offensively and defensively. It looks like he got the message about his effort level. Tedesco needs to keep him hungry.
The bad news today was that Skrzybski looked good. He scored two, but he also looked like a menace every time he got the ball. That pushes Haji one more down the depth chart once everyone is back to healthy.
If Haji keeps doing well, keeps showing well in practice etc., it'll make it harder for those injured guys to come back. But, to your point, Skrzybski looked deadly by Schalke standards today. But, maybe Haji will still get a break into the openings available if he keeps doing well.

Just happy for the kid to get a look. Thought Schalke were through with him after the bad loan spell last year. It feels like he's older but he's still U20 eligible.
Solid gifs, as always, from adam. Check out @zlebmada’s Tweet: 1066548772476473345 is not a valid tweet id
Happy for him. Still not sure he has the ability to make a mark at this level, but amazing he got that moment.
He has the ability, that’s not the question for Haji. I also think because we have players like pulisic and McKennie starting since they where 18 . Some of us are expecting too much from other young players. Each player has a diffrent trajectory. Time will tell with Haji. He is only 20 and ability he has an abundance . It’s going to be what’s between the ears that gets his game to next level. He is at Schalke for a reason
