It's probably not true but if it is I would love to see them send Hudson-Odoi the other way as a sweetener.

When Hazard was injured last month, Willian was quite mediocre on the left and Pedro just adequate on the right.

Those two would be Puli's competition to get a start.

I would cry. If he goes to Chelsea or ManU, I won't watch him anymore.

I am a bit surprised that Pulisic seems intent on leaving the club after this season despite all those warning signs in this season. He is extremely focussed on showing individual skills in the games which unfortunately leads to bad decision-making and he's constantly keeping the ball too long before making a pass. I have seen a couple of matches this season in the stadium and he seemed quite lost at times and doesn't yet understand Favre's football. It should also be alarming to him that Sancho has managed to learn how to support the defense more effectively in the last 4 months than Pulisic within the last year.

Luckily for Dortmund, this time it's not a key player that they are going to lose and I can see them agreeing to a transfer in the summer because of his contract situation. But I can't help and feel sorry for him because the risk of failing at his next club is extremely high. There would be a risk even if you're a key player for Dortmund, but right now he's struggling against the likes of Bruun Larsen and Sancho (who's certainly going to become a world class player someday to be fair).

If he ends up signing a 5-year contract at Chelsea, then he might end up playing on loan somewhere else for 2-3 years. (Yes I know this is probably an unpopular opinion here.)

You think Chelsea is going to pay 70 mil for him and loan him out?

You think JBL has replaced Pulisic?

No, I think he will simply not play much in his first season and then the usual Chelsea method of loaning young players out will come into play. Besides, 70 Million is still just a rumour. I expect it to be more closer to 40-50 Million € in the summer. Pulisic will only have one year left on his contract next summer and it doesn't look like he will have that kind of a fantastic season that clubs are going to pay whatever Dortmund demands.

Right now, JBL is ahead of Pulisic. Not by far though and all of our wingers will get sufficient playing time. Favre likes JBL a lot. Without Favre, JBL would probably not be in Dortmund anymore. Pulisic is the more talented player in my opinion but JBL suits Favre's playing style better.

    1. There’s no way in hell JBL is ahead of CP, in talent or coaching preference. If the later of those change CP needs to get the hell out.

    2. CP is far superior in defense than Sancho. And that’s not a knock on Sancho. That was quite evident against England actually. CP won a handful of tackles(including against Sancho) in his own third and just pressures better in general.

Quite a few Chelsea fans very skeptical about this one, not impressed by Puli's highlights. The Yanks in the Chelski forums are fighting a noble battle though.

His stock with their fans is down from a year ago or the summer, because he's not starting always with BvB, but some are ok with the transfer if it goes for the price rumored in the forums (£34m). Some also note that Chelsea has a contract with Nike and so does Pulisic, so it's a nice fit. Plus he's the face of US soccer, which means good sales.

The general consensus is that he'd be behind Hazard and Pedro as a wide AM, competing directly with Willian (who's getting old and may be sold soon). Considering injuries, that'd give Puli a good chance to get some starts. Also, some feel Pedro is having a good run of form that is bound to end.

I think it’s more nuanced than that even, and about team balance between offense and defense. You start Sancho and CP either Reus and the revolving 4th attacker and that’s a lot of pressure on your remaining 6 to defend. Plus CP has twice had his season interrupted with untimely injuries so the decision kind of makes itself on game day...for the moment.

In teply to Beastmode, CP is a better defender than Sancho, but he’s not on the field for defense and still gets manhandled at times.

Good lord the soccer smarts in this thread are super amazing that I can hardly believe that you all aren't working for top clubs.

    Good post my friend.

If, and that's a very BIG if, he decides to move on from BvB. I hope it's not because he's loosing minutes to Sancho and Larsen. Running away at the first sight of trouble/challenge, is not a good thing. It's a sign of weakness.

Totally non-committal definitive statement from Zorc about Pulisic's future at Dortmund.

Dortmund Chief Not Planning Pulisic Sale

But, if someone offers a pile of money during the winter window....
Or, if someone offers a pile of money in the summer window...

Zorc is talking about during the season, so Winter exit, very unlikely.

    from kicker
On the player side there is apparently no interest in an extension
And then? Nothing has changed at the booth that the kicker reported about in the summer: It is unlikely that Pulisic will extend its contract expiring in Borussia in 2020, but there is apparently not much interest on the player side. If it stays that way, BVB will have to sell the US national player in the summer of 2019 in order to generate a transfer fee. Then Pulisics time at BVB would end prematurely after just four and a half years.
