Well, I have to humorously, head-shakingly, give the FO "props" at being mad efficient at one thing - charging my card for playoff tickets before the post-game show was even over

(forgive the questions if they have already been discussed (and point me to the thread if it has) because I have not quite figured out how to search a specific forum on BS) but...

has anybody have problems with FAM? As in, a) was not able to use the app to redeem it, or b) was told it could be used for playoffs so saved it up only to be told later it could not be used during playoffs?

I didn’t have a problem redeeming it, though the merchandise options near the end of the season were pretty sparse. I just traded my FAM in for Uber certificates, anyway. Next season we’ll supposedly be able to use it for concessions.

The email I got from my ticket rep was pretty specific that FAM expired at the end of the regular season.

I ended up with $5 worth of FAM I donated to the club.

For all the complaints about Ticket Reps, mine have proven golden.

I went to the special event to get first choice on a 2nd seat on the East Side, and got one but isolated from the rest of my group. I wasn't thinking clearly when the call came earlier this week to verify this. But when I called today, my ticket rep said that seats in the upper rows of the 100s are opening up as people opt to upgrade to the more premium seats for next season. (Which sounds like a good thing). And thus, I switched out from my current seat in Sect 105 and my 2nd seat to two seats Sect 107.

I thought Alison Dommel was really good as my Ticket Rep last year. This guy is just as helpful as she was.

I just returned from a several days visit to my brother in Atlanta, where I was surprised at how visible Atlanta United was. He lives in the dense, walkable Midtown, so I spent several days walking around. It started with a sports bar around the corner from my brother's building that had an Atlanta United flag in their door. I then saw smaller banners in a couple of other businesses nearby. Walking to nearby Piedmont Park, I saw banners hanging from a couple of the residential houses we walked past. The next day, I noticed that the Atlanta equivalent of Capital Bikeshare had Atlanta United banner stickers covering their bicycle docks. Walking around another neighborhood in a different part of the city called Cabbagetown, I saw four more banners hanging from private residences. I later found the wall around a garbage bin in a business center painted with Atlanta United banner.

I take the banners hanging from houses as signs of public interest and public support of the team. I interpret the business banners, bike dock stickers, etc. as promotional effort on the part of the Atlanta United front office. I live in Loudoun County, so I don't know what kind of presence DC United has in the District, but is it something where you can walk through a neighborhood and see DC United banners hanging from front porches? Are there banners in businesses? With the exception of the occasional Safeway I walk into, I don't see these kinds of things. I'm wondering if I just live in the wrong part of our metro area to see these kinds of promotions, or if (as I really suspect) there isn't that kind of promotion of our team anywhere.

I have a DCU flag in front of my house, it is lonely -- only one I've seen walking around Alexandria.

Just to add, down the street, someone has a Tottenham flag. The rest that I see are college concussion-ball flags -- mostly SEC -- go figure.

I'm regularly surprised by the non-SEC/ACC flags I see in Old Town and they're always there.

From my years here, private residences not so much. You'll see cars here and there with stickers or decals.

Publicly, all the Safeways as you mentioned. There is a huge streetfront decal in the window of the Modell's in Columbia Heights. There are things in a lot of the sports (not just soccer) bars I've been to. Nothing really in places that aren't sports related that I've noticed.

Should add too there were plenty of metro and bus ads (including the entire exterior shell of the bus) starting a few weeks before Audi opened.

I put out a flag on days with games. Also in Alexandria, so there are at least two!

To the larger point, after about a decade of nearly no presence, I do see the occasional DCU banner here and there in restaurants. Or an ad on a bus. Or a few shirts in a store. But it still isn't much, it seems.

I see the stickers, posters, banners, flags etc. around H St. environs. The guys at A Litteri still have the STH banner up.

My college glee club was on the Ed Sullivan show with Buddy Holly and the Crickets in, I think, 1958, and we got to talk to them before the show. Genuine, polite, and a little envious of us college boys, as they didn't think their music careers would last much longer. Sadly, in the case of Buddy Holly it ended very soon thereafter in tragedy.

My thought exactly. But wikipedia and R&BU say he played for us so he must have :)

    wiki:
In 2008, Murphy signed with D.C. United of MLS where he was a member of their 2008 U.S. Open Cup winning team. He also started 12 matches for United's Reserves squad.

it shows 15 total appearances for United, doesn't say the 3 extra were USOC or more. Remember reserve squads?
Interesting, he does this for RSL now (they used to be considered a good technically scouted team, but not so much recently) but only this past year, he was basically Morsink before then.
I hope the Cosmos stank washes off quickly, that club was a fraud at best.
