Regardless of the outcome, we look like we belong on the pitch. That's a massive improvement from the last few years.
I love the interplay between Laca, Ozil, and Auba. Laca drops, Ozil moves wide, and Auba runs in behind. They're really working well together.
Position + Involved in active play = Offside I think it was the right call, Mane called for the ball and the ball was going right towards him.
This half is a good example of the dividends that are paid by tight pressure, instantly trying to win the ball back and challenging every 50/50 ball. Long may this live! Meanwhile, now we even up the score: sticking the ball in the net, nullified only by offside call
Did Arlo say that the PGMOL said the call was wrong, and that Mane's initial position was on a previous phase of play, therefore he should not have been called off? Edit: That said, I'd MUCH rather go back to the old, simple offside law. If you're offside when the ball is passed, then you're offside. Don't really see much problem with that, and it would make offside calls so much easier that there would be very very few wrong calls.
Leno with a shocking judgment. And he's saved by the post. Yikes. 0-0 at halftime... a fair score, and a very entertaining game off footy. Jose and Rafa eat your hearts out!
at times... we looked really good ... xhaka and torreira outplaying counterparts in the middle ..but these ******** ups in the back might cost us...
Leno took a HUGE risk going into that pile to try and use his advantage and punch it away, that one kinda scared me for a bit and it harmlessly hits the post and goes over the end line behind for a corner OH DEAR!!! DID I NOT SAY it was gonna be a tight one, unfortunately we did not nick that goal we needed, so what now in the second half guys???
I don’t get how mane is not offside on the first ball, he runs directly for the pass which is distracting to goal keeper as he can’t know who to pick up. Interesting game with both teams having good chances.
Disagree with the second half commentary that Pool had a 'legitimate' goal ruled offside. When you're that close to the play you're certainly affecting it. Lots of room for interpretation but I'd always err on the side of a player being involved unless they clearly are not.
How that wasn't a foul (and a yellow) on Xhaka I don't know. Oh well, another little bit of luck goes our way. Let's capitalize on it! NOW!!!
