When: Sunday, 10/28 @ 9:30 EST Where: Selhurst Park TV: NBCSN We’ve reached the final leg of our self appointed bash-the-fodder-of-the-league stretch. Defensively, we have ridden our luck a little but that’s not unexpected considering the finishing quality of the opposition. That’s why we listed all theses games as probable wins. The last two league games have shown real stretches of domination with Leicester all but resigning the last 15 mins. It’s also11 on the trot in all competitions and regardless of this result of this one it has been an amazing run of 21 straight points. Not only are we sitting just two points behind the leaders, but we are above spurs who have had their best ever start to a premier league season. Not sure about the lineup. I expect ozil, bellarin, mustafi, iwobi and laca to come back in. Not sure what he will do with Ramsey and Mhiki. Also maybe Kola is back and Monreal still out, soo.
*Notes correct day and time for the match* I'm loving the streak not only for the winning but the chance to see the team actually progressing again. I haven't been this excited about matches since Arsenal beat LCFC and actually looked like winning the league. (Ya know, before that dismal close to the season...) This should prove a fair test, too, because while Palace is slumping it is still a London Derby on the road and their fans are desperate. If the Gunners can keep their heads and stay even going into the break I'm confident they'll nip the win. Let's do this.
Looks like I (and we) will be donning our third kits tomorrow, and Bernd Leno (or whoever is in goal) will be wearing the god-awful black/red GK kit (I like the green GK strip better) So here's to nothing less that all 3 points and to the successful completion of Project 24, COYF'n'G!!! UNAI'S RED ARMY INVADES SELHURST PARK!!!
I am loving watching this team play. Haven't said that in a while. Bring on the next game! I am sure at some point this season we will hit a slump but I can handle that as long as the team keeps working hard to accept Unai's style of play.
I feel like we have solved all our midfield problems from the past few years . Wenger practically became an English manager with his “all right lads, let’s roll the ball out and get stuck in “, errr “tactics”. What a pleasure it is to watch a team that specifically prepares itself for the team they are playing . I know people are saying “we haven’t played anybody though“ but let’s be serious, we would’ve dropped a lot of points in prior years .
I'm on the road this morning so unless our match is on SiriusXM FC, I guess I'm going to have to ignore it. Then I'm off to watch my other team try to sneak in at the last minute and win the MLS Shield. I can't recall if I've ever attended a top-flight soccer match where my team had a chance to win the title on that day. So wish us luck!
8' mark and no notable events. Ayew a yellow for foolish tackle from behind on Lacca. Defense looking skittish. Know you're all surprised about that.
10' and Arsenal looking a little more aggressive to move forward as a team. Douzy + Torreira partnership finding their footing but making some sharp tackles.
15' Zaha shot goes off outside of the post. A minute later 4 Palace players combine with quick passes to get another shot from the goal box that goes off target. Nervy stuff as the defense goes to sleep.
Bellerin. Grrr. Gets shot in the box but 1 touch too many. Arsenal with 2 good chances inside a minute there.
32' and Arsenal struggling to retain possession in a sloppy run of play. Few chances at a breakaway given up via a bad pass, bad first touch, etc.
Palace 1-0 Mustafi with the foul. Not the most egregious but he did go to ground in desperation. All to chase now.
