No call-up, but that's for the best. Needs more time with his club before nailing a spot with them and then the NT

I'm slightly worried about the tumultuous nature of management at this time, plus his recent benching. Hopefully it's just rotation.

I'm concerned about the change in management too. But EPB is so damn talented he should be able to win a spot on this sort of squad. I'm starting to lean towards the opinion that EPB might be more of a DM than a CB.

An upgraded version of Geoff maybe? Now if he can develop Geoff's knack of never being out of the line-up for very long, that would be cool with me.

Now that he's playing with adults, I'm concerned that EPB's physical gifts are no longer giving him the edge that he enjoyed against youth opposition.

  11. Well, that's all about coming into the world of the grown ups.
But as I posted before the press comes down too hard on the players as alot of them are basically wet behind their ears. They get a rough rite of passage so to say. But the ones that get back on their feet after stumbling are the ones to make it.

EPB on the bench certainly isn’t helping NAC, who lost 2-0 to PSV on Saturday, btw.

  14. Although FC Utrecht at their home is a strong opponent I expect very few goals, as FC Utrecht has managed the fewest shots on target of the Eredivisie and also donot score many goals. If the line up published is really going to be fielded they might get/give the impression they're doing well, while in reality it's just confirmation of the statistic truth.
But you never know how things turn out as FC Utrecht has a new (first match last week against Feyenoord away) and very experienced coach to save the club from relegation, Dick Advokaat. So if NAC is unlucky FC Utrecht picks up scoring against them.

What’s going on with Eric? Team is in last place and he’s not getting playing time

The case of EPB is a good illustration of the true distance between US youth accolades and real professional football. His case is far from the only one if we look at Hyndman and a bunch more as examples of how little notoriety in the youth ranks translates into an adult career.

He had poor performances and got demoted from the first team.

I think when a youth player is in the upper of his class for his age group, he has the best chance to progress. Obvious. This particular case has an underlying story of mismanagement of his progress. I am not pointing fingers, but he was not being set up to be successful. Granted this is all from what I've read on the computer, here and elsewhere. I saw him with the U20s(?) and he looked a man among boys. IIRC, he was playing CB. Be that as it may, a young man's mind has to catch up to his body and troubles can weigh heavily. It may take time, but I'm hopeful for him. He has the foundation, just put it together.

  20. Miazga had the set back too, took the challenge and fought back taking the lessons from the coaching staff by heart and not taking the stance being an undisputed Chelsea signee.
So the example is there to follow.

I don't think MM had set backs. He got a contract and was sent out to learn. He is. This other guy got hung up by his MLS club while MM was sold with no problem after getting starting time for 2 years? His progress was nurtured. Whatever happened in EPB's personal life is out of my realm. But he is where he is now and it's up to him to make it happen.

I believe @feyenoordsoccerfan is referring to MM not solidifying himself in the Vitesse XI right away. MM had to work at it and eventually won the job.

    Opstellingen
Jong Feyenoord: Delle; Nieuwkoop, Van Beek (60’ Touré), Van Mullem, Verdonk; El Bouchataoui, Schuurman, Ayoub; Sinisterra, Jørgensen en Zwarts (80’ De Mooij).
Jong NAC Breda: Niemczycki; Van Hecke, Palmer-Brown, Den Heijer, Rommens, Mashart, Amissi, Loshi, Van Gestel, Broeren en De Fretes.
    Match report google translate:
Nicolai Jørgensen was crowned a match winner on Thursday at Jong Feyenoord. De Deen made Varkenoord the only goal in the home match against Young NAC Breda: 1-0.

    Rhythm
The duel was an excellent opportunity for the Dane to get even more rhythm after he got more and more playing time in the main power of Feyenoord. Just as in the away match against Willem II in the Eredivisie, Jørgensen also finished the ninety minutes.

    A chance, a goal
That was good, because the striker had to wait until the end of the race for his first chance. Then it was immediately hit, albeit with some luck. Achraf El Bouchataoui pulled the ball back from the back line and saw his cross through several legs before the feet of Jørgensen, for whom it was then a breeze to score.

    Difficult competition
Until then, Jong Feyenoord had the greatest difficulty in finding a hole in the close defense of the visitors. In possession of the team, the team was not accurate and creative enough and because the Brabanders mainly concentrated on stopping, chances were scarce on Varkenoord.

    Bad luck for Schuurman
Jong Feyenoord came closest to a goal in the first half hour. Jari Schuurman saw his long shot scattering on the bar, while Joel Zwarts failed a strong individual action on the left side with a hit. On the other hand, goalkeeper Joris Delle was ready and he avoided a goal for Jong NAC in one of the sparse counterattacks.

    Third home win
For example, the game seemed to be heading for a goalless draw, until Jørgensen pulled the trigger in the last minute. With that, he again gave Jong Feyenoord three points in a home match, after the youngsters Jong Excelsior (6-0) and Jong Helmond Sport (5-0) had already been sent home with a defeat.

Let's hope he's on the right track. Sounds like there have been some unfortunate diversions of his and others creation.
