Nick would be more palatable if he wasn’t at $250-$275k. He is a good backup but with a salary cap and our budget him being here is bad business.

I think a fit Nick DeLeon is better than Kevin Ellis. If Fisher can't go next week, I think we'll see Paul Arriola at right back.

That I can also agree with. $175 for a versatile backup who has a freaking dcu tattoo.

I thought Mora and Moreno were excellent again. F***ing deck chairs ...

That's the main issue, he hasn't been good for at least the last 3 years. He honestly looks like he's done. We have seen Ellis too little to judge.

I've been quite impressed with Moreno ever since Canouse came back. The "glue"in this team is the spine of Hamid, Canouse and Rooney. Those three have all made the players around them "better"" because they play their positions so well. For Moreno, this means having to cover less ground and "cover"" for positioning mistakes caused by Durkin's inexperience. Canouse's return also has permitted Segura to move outside where he is far more comfortable. Indeed, Segura has done so well outside that he has pushed Stieber down the depth chart.

Putting Arriola at right back gets your best 11 on the field. I feel bad for Stieber not getting playing time (because I think he is really good), but with the back 4 we have we really need two defensive mids.

Also, while not the most technically adept player, I <3 NDL. Not just because of the goal in Harrison after Sandy, either. Dude does a lot of smart work on the field, he just lacks some of the technical ability (pass accuracy, shot and cross and weighting) that are endemic to a number of league players.

Is he a -starter-? In this league, absolutely, somewhere. Is he an ideal starter? Probably not, but we aren't all Real Madrid. :D

He's the ideal 3rd sub when one of your defenders needs to come out.

Not that I necessarily approve but “Diablito” is more pithy.

Maybe today, but not even close when Etch was in his prime. Until guys shit their pants when he steps up to a free kick or a corner as with Etch, no comparison. There weren't too many like him

I've been thinking Acosta is more like a second Chrisian Gomez.

He certainly looked it with the way the ball was glued to his feet for large stretches of last night. He dribbled through challenges like Christian Gomez of old -- except Acosta is much younger than Gomez was then.

If Acosta is able to maintain the level he's been playing at lately, DCU is going to a tough time hanging on to him.

Why? Not disagreeing at all -- I'm just wondering what you see. I don't know much about Ellis, and I wasn't watching the game in the right way last night to get much more of an impression.

I'm more inclined to call him moscerino or mosca in either Italian or Portuguese, that's a small gnat or mosquito that is pesky, everywhere, and very annoying! :)

When I first heard about Acosta coming to DC, I thought, cool, we’re getting mini-Messi. It was kind of a joke, and a hope, but lately it’s been coming true.

Ellis was awful yesterday. He came right in and gave away 2 great opportunities almost immediately. He simply isn't a quality player. Remember his attempted cushion header back to Hamid, attempted from 30 yards away, which should have resulted in a Montreal goal, only a minute or 2 after he subbed on for Fisher (who, by the way, got injured trying to chase down a break on goal that began after he had done something similar just moments earlier)?

Moscerino and mosca are two different insects - mosca is a fly, moscerino's translation I believe is midge
