Not really a good night for our lads in Europe tonight, Edwards was sent off for a second bookable offence after being booked for diving in the penalty area. Looked a tad harsh to me, just that the centre half was stronger than him and he fell over.

Sorry, I kind of wrote him off now, can’t see him ever turning out for an England team again tbh. Already said he wants to play for Ireland.

Probably not, though I'm guessing his affection for Ireland is driven by the total lack of attention he gets from England. It's a tricky one because we suddenly have a few promising creative players and it's hard to accommodate them all, but given how hard it is to predict which will develop most, it'd be nice to keep as many as possible in the mix.

A goal and an assists for Sancho in a 7-0 battering of Nuernberg. The goal was a great take and cool finish, caught the defence sleeping and ran in behind.

Am i the only one concerned about nelson? He has all the ability in the world, but at senior level he just seems to lack confidence and be lost. I thought he was immensely dissapointing in his few minutes for arsenal, and takes the safe option too often meaning he has limited impact on the game. You just want to see him go at players like sancho does, even if it means loosing it sometimes. I know hes still young but it seems he could have such a bigger impact

Not really. He's not as talented as Sancho. He's still just 18 and he's had one bad half at Hoffenheim. He played most of his football at Arsenal as a right wingback.

Sancho was excellent when he came on tonight, two assists to help Dortmund win when 2-1 down when he entered the pitch. The first assist was especially satisfying

Yeah he changed the game when he came on. He has great chemistry with Reus. The next step will be maintaining that for an entire game if/when he starts, because obviously coming on against tired defences gives him an advantage. You can see why Favre keeps doing it.

Jadon Sancho (18) has assisted more goals than any other player across Europe's top five leagues this season. • 6 appearances • 5 assists He's only played 125 minutes, and he's yet to start a game.

    Edwards smaakmaker

    Edwards flavouring player

When Marcus Edwards gets the ball, the fans in Kralingen move to the tip of their seats. The 19-year-old Englishman is incredibly dextrous and agile. It's not for the first time his dribbles provide VVV with problems. He will, however, make way for Mounir El Hamdaoui.

To be honest, I’m quite happy with the way he is being handled at the moment. He’s only 18 years old so being an impact player and making a difference when played in the right situations makes sense for his development. Rather that than being overplayed and becoming the next Michael Owen ( injury wise ) seems like the right path to me.

  15. Yup, and that happened to Rooney too. He burned up far too soon.

Yes indeed, I think lessons need to be learned in some aspects and a bit of patience required by all.

  17. Marcus Edwards actually wasnot playing that well in the match, hence his substitution. He was awarded a rating of 4.5 out of 10. But the fans love players like him.

And he’s just got another assist and a lovely one at that! Lovely through ball to Laursen who scored.

He made a complete mess of a great chance, but was involved in their second goal not long after at least. It's interesting that his finishing has maybe been a little bit of a weakness at Dortmund, when he was such a goal threat for England. Different levels, different pressure I suppose.

Yeah, he did make at bit of a hash of it but it was brilliant control in the first place to enable him to get the shot away. Also the touch for Reus for that second goal was lovely.
