This stadium is such a pain in the a$$to get to it is not worth it to go there today just to get Rooney's autograph.
How do you get to the stadium? I finally got to visit the stadium recently and was quite relieved with how simple it was to get to. Casual walk 10-15 minutes each way. That’s about the same distance I walked from the back of lot 8 to my seats.
I have driven and parked in a near by lot. Of course you could only access it coning from the north. Last game I took the train. On a Sunday where I don't have to pay to park at Greenbelt. Today I would have had to pay to park. Yes it is only $2 but the amount is not the point. I don't find Audi Field "simple" to get to. But then again my second favorite pastime is complaining. Lol
so MTD was interesting....it was not from 10-1. it was 11-12:45. Lines for Acosta, Ariola, and of course Rooney were insane. Didn't get around to everyone, felt really bad for the younger kids who aren't able to meet each player. Good catching up with Nicky and Dave Johnson at least, but no Levian as was supposed to be, so it was Kasper who spoke on the team.... BTW they did give a small model stadium out so, that was sorta cool. I miss Pinstripes where the players got to hangout and chill with that fans. Regular price beer also, BLAH!
Interesting because my wife, daughter and I showed up at 10 and the event was already open. Went into the team store and grabbed some swag. Then sat in the North End and DJ, Arriola and Kasper spoke to the fans. There was an insane line to get into the facility under the Heinekin bar that stretched from the main entrance all the way to the southside concession area. Didn't even both with that. Saw various autograph tables set up along the eastside concourse. I guess Rooney was inside. However Hamid and Opare were at one table outside. We left around 11:20. I thought it was a fine event. I'm not an autograph hound and not terribly interested in chatting up players on the fly. My wife was really impressed with Arriola's demeanor and attitude when he talked to the group. She's now a big fan (of course she's also from San Diego so that might have something to do with it as well). I parked on the street next to the west stands, no problem whatsover.
https://www.thenutmegnews.com/curre...d-announce-renovations-to-outdated-audi-field hahahahaha. that is too good, wish it was true ha
Has the team made any announcements about upgrades (finishing) to the stadium. I thought I saw something about the roof opening being closed in for next season. Is that true. I know that the design showed the roof as fully closed but what we go was a roof structure without the sections to keep out the rain.
As someone who has had ST back from 96, I beg to differ. This FO is crap compared to what they used to have under Fred Matthes and others. Their customer service and responsiveness was outstanding and served as a model for the league. They were the ones that established great relationships with the Supporters groups and cultivated what was the absolute best fan experience in MLS despite the negatives with RFK. That is not to say there aren't some good folks with the team today, but for so long disengaged ownership and cost cutting of the FO has resulted in an amateurish operation nothing like the effective and professional organization they once were. Given the size of this market, the tradition and background - the new stadium should be sold out every game with a significant waiting list.
Nick is English ... sarcasm is second nature to him I rep'd his post as all the points he made were valid even if the post he quoted was sarcastic!
I was going to answer that post in the original (sarcastic) way it was intended. But I had recently read some pieces where the FO was literally viewing themselves as an expansion team. Their reasoning was based on the fact that the winning tradition and supporters culture was long past and that with the new stadium they wanted to establish a clean slate. This meant they would be going after a new more upscale demographic that could afford higher priced tickets. This foundation could be seen to lead to all kinds of issues with everything from the types of amenities catering to supporters (for example, not considering ALL the supporters groups in handling tickets) to the design of the stadium (what happened to the safe standing areas for the supporters section) to the interaction with the fans (The cheerleading announcer at the first game).
https://www.washingtonpost.com/spor...new-fan/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.376f9474929c The new fans DC had hoped to get with the new stadium and Rooney. I'm glad she's on board and I'm sure she's one of many who have taken a liking to the team. Now it's up to the FO to keep their interest through the future.
