The U-18 #USMNT ran rampant over Bulgaria 5-0 at the Vaclav Jezek Youth Tournament overseas. Goals from: Gabe Segal (x2), Thomas Roberts, Indiana Vassilev, and Folarin Balogun. Ulysses Llanez assisted twice. pic.twitter.com/DgJOGfTRkd— U.S. Soccer YNT (@USYNT) August 22, 2018
Is that "mini Cavani" Haak I see in the top right? I think this kid will surprise a lot of people. He's very underrated
Could see some of these guys get signed in Europe if they’re aren’t already signed here in the US. Hopefully Balogun is impressed by the team
So Ochoa and Shakes got the call up over OCampo, Rando, Pulskamp, McNally, Travasos and Collodi. Whatever happened to Collodi? Haven't heard much about him...still with FCD?
Collodi is still with FCD and on their U19DA team. I don't think he has been called into the National team in a while but not sure on timing. Last I heard he was visiting colleges to get ready for next year.
Collodi isn't that good. The '02 FCD keeper Wilson is already a better player. I don't know who O'Campo is. I haven't seen that much of Defreitas-Hansen lately (the guy at Everton), but I thought he was one of the better keepers in the year. I haven't seen that much of Rando or Travasos, but in limited games I've watched, I've been impressed by both. I've seen Pulskamp play a few times, and was not impressed, but maybe he'll do well at Bournemouth. I don't know much about McNally. IMO, the two best '01 keepers are Shakes and then either Defreitas-Hansen, Ochoa or Travasos. Its hard to split those three. Even Shakes isn't that good, IMO. I think its a very weak keeper year.
Been wondering about Rando--did not play in the playoffs. Wondered if he was hurt or just not playing because of Penaranda--but he could have played for either 17s or 19s and yet he didn't play at all. McNally has not been called up in a long time. He's committed to Wake Forest.
Is it known where Bryan Reynolds is playing in this tournament? FCD moved him to outside back for the pro team so wonder if FCD told US Soccer to play him at defense this tournament to get him some game time there.
Just some more info from the first game. Seems like one of Hategan's goal was a penalty. Not sure who drew it.
Apparently Llanez has gotten 4 assists so far. 2 were tweeted by this dude not sure how credible he is and the other two by the usynt account. He needs to GTFO of LAG unless he wants to wait till he’s 21 for random rare sub appearances.. Alvarez does too
Call me crazy but I actually think Alvarez will get a chance with the first team in the next few years
I hope so and would think there would be a stream. Unfortunately, the game is not listed on the streaming website, but three other games are for Friday. https://www.tvcom.cz/Zapasy/Sport-Fotbal/Soutez-Memorial-Vaclava-Jezka/Pohlavi-Muzi/ Tab: Utkani v sezone Filtr: PRIPRAVUJEME Apologies to Czech speakers for leaving out the accents. What time is the game?
Llanez had the cross to a guy who drew the assist I believe. So I think technically 3 assists but not a big deal.
Also, I don't think the game is going to be streamed today. But I'm pretty sure that it will be available afterward. The game is listed to be at 10 AM EST but the countdown timer ends at 4. https://www.tvcom.cz/Zapas/Sport-Fo...Muzi/Sezona-2018/168295-USA-Czeh-Repuplic.htm
Thanks. I was just about to post that link. I'm hoping the countdown timer is wrong. It is the same for all four games scheduled at 16:00 local time, 10 AM ET/7 AM PT.
I watched the US-Bulgaria game and Bulgaria was awful. I don't think they put 3 passes together at any given point of the game. It will be interesting to see how Czech Republic plays since they tied 2-2 in the first game with Bulgaria.
How did you watch that game? I'll know soon enough. I think the countdown timer widget is set to the user's computer, not to local time at the match site.
Couple moments ago the U.S. just had a nice move up the left flank that led to an open shot at the 18 from a striker. It was reasonably well hit but didn't trouble the GK too much. (I'm only half watching, and there's no PBP, so not really sure who's who at this point.)
Looks like a 4-4-2 with a diamond with a kid with a mop of blonde hair playing the 6. Czech is pressing very high and aggressive. Haven't seen the US really get through the midfield yet. But when they get it to a winger, those wingers look faster and more technical than the Czech fullbacks.
