Your recollection is better than mine. I found property tax payments for 1123 Coleman Avenue, so I missed the change from the original deed back plan, probably because the press didn't cover it. I stand corrected. https://www.sccassessor.org/index.php/online-services/property-search/real-property
The only info I could find on the owner is that it is owned by the San Jose Earthquakes. I don't know if that means the legal entity that comprises the team owns it or if the ownership group owns it. There doesn't seem to be any indication that the stadium ownership was turned over to the city. This is just me, but I can't imagine the city would have actually wanted ownership of the stadium, anyway. If Oakland and the county of Alameda have taught us anything, it's that municipal ownership of stadiums is a fruitless and stupid endeavor. But of course, those decisions get made by city council members and county chairs, all of whom are easily bribed.
I've got no problem with ownership making money. What bothers me is when the football is merely an inconvenience, a necessary burden to get their condos and office space and then bled dry.
Guys, boycott is your only option to force change but what's even better is you demand pro/rel during that boycott and only after that will you see true and long lasting change. The owner will not afford to get relegated after mediocre performances and management. Right now he has nothing to lose. He still gets his share of league profits no matter how bad he does
HEY GUYS, THIS IS THE BOYCOTT PLANNING THREAD! Let’s plan a boycott or protest or phone blast or newspapers or paper bags or chants or banners or march or something. Anything. There’s a game on Saturday. We should be protesting loudly and visibly pre-game. If you want to be a true blue fan totally supportive of the team or the club, or if you have a relationship with Jesse Stahre or Fox, then bow out of this thread. Let’s plan something.
I'm in for Saturday but judging how this is shaping up, we might need more time. I like davez's leaving idea, but I don't think we have enough folks for that. bag idea, maybe, seems like a big sign might be our best idea (we all carry in a letter spelling - FISHER OUT!!! - or something), we could meet up at an agreed time (behind LOBINA or in parking lot, Starbucks nearby, wherever really) and agree on, and proceed to, most visible (to TV cameras) seating area and make our point. I like your ideas and energy for this.
Oh hey, each carrying in a letter sounds really cool. So letters would have to be out of cloth? And punch holes at the top so they can be tied together with string? Or maybe fastened with paper clips...
cloth, easier to bring in, great idea. we need to: a. agree on what our sign should say b. figure out how best to make the sign to achieve best impact and visibility c. figure out who's in there's two of us (meaning my wife's onboard, took a little arm twisting but she ready, lol).
6 is a good start, maybe a few more from here will join us. what do you think of... FISHER OUT!! lettering maybe 24 - 30 inches tall? I wonder if we have anyone around here with sign making skills? If we're aiming for Saturday, we need to get it together soon.
Problem is, a fired GM and coach can be replaced, but if there's no suitable and willing new owner in place to buy the team, who replaces Fisher if he's "fired"? GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
good point Goodsport, that's why this discussion is all brainstorming and planning at this point. I'm open to 'Stahre Out!' or 'Fox Out!' or 'Fioranelli Out'... or 'Hey, Ho, They all need to GO!' or whatever folks can agree on. 'FISHER OUT!!' reflects my own bias and conviction that our problems are all derived from his tiny, unambitious mindset when it comes to our team.
are you ready to join us from your perch above town? I'm sure you could be a great asset to this process of statement making, were you so inclined.
I had another thought - instead of attacking any particular person in charge, what if we just expressed our frustration or overall solution, maybe borrowing some election slogans or clever protest signs e.g., Wins not Words Had Enough It’s Time Don’t Renew We’re Done Or, returning to person attacks, what about abbreviations? Too obtuse? ABS = Anyone but Stahre ABJ = Anyone but Jesse ABF = Anyone but Fox SOS = Sick of Stahre Maybe we should sit with the Away fans...
I have some old white flannel sheets. Flannel might not be good to paint on, but rolled up they might look like blankets, so would hopefully get through security. Or I could roll a smaller banner inside a stadium blanket.
I like SOS but nobody would know what it means. I like these too, Wins not Words Had Enough It’s Time Don’t Renew We’re Done maybe... Fix this Team! 10 years of futility! Save the Earthquakes! Progress please! sitting with away fans gives us no TV exposure. I'm thinking we find empty seats, close to field level, for maximum camera exposure. and if you have banner material, that would be great. flannel sheet(s) would be fine. I'm sure the 6 of us could hold up a pretty big banner, maybe a couple of sheets tied together? the idea for what banner might say is wide open...anyone have any other ideas?
it really would. I say we keep the ideas coming but until we coalesce around one in particular, let's wait to execute until we have enough folks onboard to send a potent message. @mjlee22, I love your enthusiasm but for now the energy to do much seems kind of low, maybe that changes by the last game or two, we could always do something then. with all the political madness swirling around us these days, some people might need their soccer to just be a respite from having to take a stand, some are interested in giving Fisher more of their hard earned $$$ so that we can stay stuck in the basement , many have already voted with their feet, I expect that trend to continue. we all have to deal with this in our own way, I suppose.
