I was under the impression that one of the problems the Quakes had early on was not that they were getting no coaching, but rather they were being taught a new system (which Wondo seemed to like) and didn't seem to pick it up very well. (Whether that was due to poor coaching, poor communication, players who couldn't pick it up, or some combination of factors is a separate discussion).
Man City has spent more on players over the last 10 years than any club in the world. (2008-2017) You would kind of assume that Pep could get it right.
SalinasQuakesFan knows more about "good coaching" than Pep Guardiola... perhaps you should get your coaching licenses and offer your services to the Quakes since Pep is winning the Premier League with 100 points while the Quakes are the worst f*cking team in MLS?
You didn't notice that because at no point did Pep call any of his players losers! At no point in the series, and certainly not in that clip, where all he does is correctly point out that Chelsea are still the champions from last season, not Man City. But hey people who don't know s*** can just make up whatever they want and post it on the internet as if it's fact... === For anyone who is NOT completely f*cking clueless, I would highly recommend watching All or Nothing: Manchester City on Amazon Prime: https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B07FS1KVYV/ Stahre may be clueless, but he should probably watch it as well I just binge watched all 8 episodes over the last couple days, I don't think there's ever been a series that gives quite the same look inside a soccer club (Being Liverpool exposed Brendan Rodgers as a real-life David Brent joker, and First Team Juventus was useless fluff). The way Pep handles his players is incredible, pushing all the right buttons, mixing it up and keeping things fresh, finding new ways to motivate... A few things that stood out: Just a few games into the season they're jumping up and down like crazy in the locker room after a win, singing fan chants, with Pep right there alongside his players. The amount of physical contact he makes with his players, it's hard to imagine guys like Stahre or Kinnear hugging their players all the time, or ever kissing them. Mendy tore his ACL almost as soon as he arrived, pretty much done for the year... that makes him the equivalent of Harold Cummings 2017. And yet Pep is Facetiming with the guy after a game and passing the phone around to the players in the locker room. Even after they've won the Premier League confortably, Pep still manages to motivate his players, "find something" he says and presents them with this slide: Of course they end up achieving pretty much all of it.
List of MLS coaches of the year. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MLS_Coach_of_the_Year_Award In recent games against the last two MLS coaches of the year, Stahre has a win and a draw and no losses. (Fun with data. ).
Next year's Levi's friendly can feature Guardiola's Cityzens vs. Stahre's Quakes. Pep vs. Dim. The sequel to this season's Special One vs. Special Needs One. Stahre Out. Fioranelli Out.
Isn't this the key thing we are seeing on the field this season with the Quakes? Basically, every game they come out looking flat and unmotivated.
That may be true. But we don’t even do the fundamental of football. Things our professional players should have done a thousand million times, as Pep said. Like showing for the ball. Making runs off the ball. Anticipating a pass into space and running before it’s passed to you.
They did. And I believe they broke the record for most points in a season with 100 and biggest gap between first and second place of 19. He definitely got it right.
TFC & San Jose finish 1-1. I'm all for road draws, & appreciate TFC had the midweek Canadian Championship, but that's a tough 2 points to drop for a TFC side still trying to climb up the East standings. As for San Jose, worst record in the league, yet nobody has been fired yet— Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) August 19, 2018 As for San Jose, worst record in the league, yet nobody has been fired yet Earthquakes are toast for 2018, playoff hopes long gone, yet Wondolowski is in range of an all-time record, scores goals in the limited minutes he does get, and still can't start? SMH. If Earthquakes don't have a new coach and GM come 2019 something's really wrong in San Jose.— Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) August 19, 2018 If Earthquakes don't have a new coach and GM come 2019 something's really wrong in San Jose.
To have 3 wins against 2 sole clubs in 24 games is a disgrace. Any interim, assistant or college coach would have done better. When I think back to how everyone hated Frank and Mark and compare them to now, its like night and day. We didn't go forward, we've reverted back into what was worse than our expansion year in 2008....
Stahre's pre-game speech in the latest Quakes Axis is the most articulate and compelling use of language since the apes saw the black monolith.
Yuck, that video reveals some issues. Can players really understand what Stahre says? Sounds like he has marbles in his mouth Why does he address the players as “Boys”? No wonder Flo came up with the youth soccer quote. No real strategy or tactics communicated No discussion of what TFC is doing, and how to counter it Video at half-time? Is that what pros do today? is that helpful? It seems like it’s too analytic, kinda hard for players to process on the spot, and would be better for post-game analysis during practice... Pre-game, Stahre tells them they have to win, then post-game he says, well you created 5 big chances! You improved! That’s great, you did great (he kinda forgot about the win part) I suppose there are just as many fans who would watch that video and say, wow Stahre is a Star! Have they been posting these locker room videos all season?
That is racist. Pick on the guy for his coaching flaws all you want, but stop those personal attacks. Soccer is such an international game that it almost has its own universal language. There are plenty of coaches out there who share the same locker room with players who don't speak the same language. However they manage to put together a great product on the field. Do you think all EPL players - just an example - speak whatever language their coaches speak? Yet they are the best league in the world. Why does he call them boys? Is that a real question? How much professional soccer have you watched before? Most coaches call their players "boys".
I’m racist? Most coaches call their players “boys”? It was my husband who almost threw up when I showed him that video. He was a collegiate tennis player. He was incensed that Stahre was calling the players boys to their faces. Also note, calling a man a boy to his face is racist here in the USA. Stahre is in the USA, he needs to learn USA colloquialisms. And Stahre’s English —- i’m just pointing out that unless Stahre speaks slowly and actually looks at his players once in a while when he talks to them, how can they possibly understand what he’s saying? It’s on him to be clear and communicative. Since he obviously is not, and gives no concrete suggestions anyway, it’s clear that he is not providing much coaching. He saves his coaching instruction for all the yelling and gesticulating he does on the touchline.
