I don’t think I’d hate a Zouma deal if the price is right. He gives an athletic alternative at CB we haven’t had since what Kolo or Djourou. If we are going to play a high line having a CB with more recovery speed than oil tanker would be a nice addition.

When compared with chambers his stats are similar except he wins more duels. He’s taller and faster and they are practically the same age. Chambers probably has the edge in build up play, but I can’t say I remember watching Zouma closely in this regard.

Yeah, let's ignore his 10 year career in favor of 4 games this summer.

So Ramsey is now the 3rd key Arse player who is basically going to sign a deal with free agent leverage following Ozil, Sanchez

I still have a suspicion that Croatia was giving the Russians a run for the doping title this WC.

5 minutes to go. Despite no luxurious signings for us this window, I’m so happy the window shuts before the season starts.

Southampton reportedly tried to make a run at Welbeck until they saw his wage demands

    Deadline past, correct?
No more incoming until Jan but can still get rid of people as long as they are sold/loaned outside England?

Here's my speculation-with-no-real-evidence-to-support-it theory regarding Ramsey. It's an ambition thing. He wants to stay at Arsenal, but he wants to see if we're improving under Emery enough to secure a CL spot. He holds all the cards, knows the club won't sell him to a rival, so he'll allow his contract to keep running down. If things are looking really good in January, he'll sign for numbers less than Ozil but more than Auba. If we're floundering, he's gone.

I found an article that says the loan window for Championship and lower clubs is still open until the end of August. So that could still be an option for Jenkinson, Bramall, etc.

Read a report on Football365 that we sold Ospina to Besiktas. They don't state a source, so take with grain of salt for now.

This is reasonable. If so, I think he is gambling more than ozil and Sanchez did bc they have the proven track record that meant even if they blew it their final seasons they would still have clubs queuing up to pass them a massive wage.

We’ve already seen tepid interest as it is, if he gets injured or has an off season the only club I can see paying him a huge wage would be united if they sell pogba and they might not even be in the CL the following season either.

If that’s his move though, I respect it. It’s likely his final real contract. The club should drive a harder bargain though. Like many here have suggested offer him a 2 year extension with a mikiesque wage and a reasonable buyout clause (40m?) contingent on missing the CL. If he refuses, bench him.

Been reading since yesterday that Ospina has agreed terms but Besiktas is trying to either get him on loan or low ball our 5m quid asking price.

Seeing some claims that we made a run at 20yo Lille LB Hamza Mendyl. He was in London to finalize the deal but there may have been some issue getting paperwork submitted to the PL so the deal may not have gone down.

    Agreed.

Nacho is the best LB we have but he has lost a step and probably ought to be sold to a team in Spain while we can get any value. Kola was great at the start of last season but has fallen off a cliff. Honestly don't know what happened to him. Top 3 BL LB to absolute rubbish in just a few months.

At RB, Bellerin is a horrible defender. He has always relied on his recovery speed but this preseason he seems to have lost a step as well. Can't tell if it is laziness, poor form, etc...? Lichtsteiner looks pretty solid (atleast on par with Nacho) but he is no speed demon and is what 34?

We desperately need a starting quality LB and a young RB with huge upside that we can be training in the reserves.
