I think that the "OUR HOUSE" TIFO is from corporate, not from the supporters group. They are using the same message on the banner that goes on the side of the "box thingy" vertical circulation tower: "this is our house." Screaming Eagles has used TIFO that is provided by the team before.
Yes, but SURELY they had to have understood the optics. There was a protest going on outside at that very moment! So, again, they are either 1) so extraordinarily compromised that they couldn't turn down propaganda from the front office, even if they wanted to, or 2) trolling their former comrades, or 3) so ********ing tone deaf that they should apologize and disband immediately.
He also came out at halftime to exhort us to "make some noise" It was embarrassing and awful.[/QUOTE] Telling him to smack his lips loudly when he kisses your ass may be a suitable retort if he's pulling the same stuff next week
Unlike RFK, where anyone could roam through the stadium, AF is closed to pedestrian traffic. So not only Talon but it limits beer & other concession vendors.
Someone posted that they had trouble seeing the near sideline from the upper East stand due to the TV cameras in front of him, but in general I'd say no.
There are no walk ways between sections at AF. Once you are in a section, it is up or down the stairs at the entry level. At RFK, beer & other vendors had a walk way that was in between sections. Talon, Salvadore & other cheerers were able to engage with the crowd that way. That is not possible at AF.
So very mixed emotions here. With little kids, I'd like to see the mascot come to our seats, not that we've had him come by more than 2-3 times in the last couple of years. Sitting in the middle of the section, you don't even see the beer guy come along. I didn't see any other food vendors, which are sorely needed, given the concessions lines. Has anyone figured out in seat ordering? I could't figure it out. I could only find a screen that said I had no pending or open orders. I am not tall and I found leg room a tad cramped sitting in the front row. And I thought the other row's behind us, their cup holders are almost on the ground, the rake is that steep, which felt awkward.
yes, i'm on the first row of section 104 next to the stairs and the rail is higher at the bottom of the stairs. So the left side of the field has a post in view. I have a picture of this but i can't figure how to upload it. I'm working on changing my season tickets...
This. Several told me they refuse, er, politely decline, to print tickets for STHs if you have accessed tickets through the app... With all of the crap they took about not having a commemorative ticket for that game they decided they will be sending us one later in the season. Except that half the reps I talked to during the evening did not know about...naturally.
There are 2 open seats at the end of our row, for this same reason. My wife sits in seat 5 and she's slightly impacted when the ball goes into the corner at the far end. I don't understand how they did this, like this and it was OK. And I know I'd be PISSED as hell if this had happened to me. I'd have preferred to be on aisle versus in the middle of the row. But its a tough choice to go from having first row seats on the aisle to seats that are definitely not in the first row. So, not unhappy about where I ended up now, since they were literally the last 4 contiguous front row seats when my time came to select.
SEs sent out an email earlier this week about the tifo and its feel-good backstory (the artist is a young kid who has been a DCU fan since a wee lad, no mention of of how elected to create this, this was the second attempt - the first was considered too "abstract" - and he got to watch his art be unfurled and then make its way up to him.... I have no idea if the late (of DC) T Hunt paid for it or not, but my sense is that while to some it appears be tone-deaf that was just an unfortunate combination of out-of-time, little art direction, and the skill of a very young artist. The teams symbol and mascot is an eagle and we now have a place "house" the team can "truly call 'its own' " - nothnig more than that. The rest is, understandably, being read into it.
I'm always fascinated reading about preferences to seating locations. Everyone has a difference in opinion. Myself for example... I would NEVER want an aisle seat at a sporting event. I want to sit as close to the middle of the row as possible. This will minimize the number of times I'll have to 'stand up' to let people out. I arrive early, get my drink(s) and food and sit down. I don't get up again until halftime, etc. The closest I EVER sit is row TWO. Row 1 is always obstructed with the top portion of the metal railing. My wife and I either have to sit with ridiculously good posture to see over it... or we have to slouch really low to look under it. Row 2 avoids this issue completely. Yes. I'm very analytical.
I wasn't an aisle seat guy until I started going to events with my kid. Getting up every 10 minutes for misc items can turn the place against you if in the middle.
I'm in 104 in the lower section, the last row at the top of the section. My row has a wall behind it. I asked the folks sitting above me if the rail hindered their view. They said it did a bit. It did appear they had better leg room. That was my debate in the selection between the two rows. One thing, I am able to stand & stretch my legs, which is impossible to do while sitting.
One thing I was looking for in the stadium was the honor of stars or whatever it was called. There were some blank walls but not much. Is it hidden somewhere else?
Thanks for the info. I guess we all, myself included, need to be a bit more gracious in our criticism. asitis
Exactly. The virtual seating only gave a bit of what to expect. For instance, who knew I would be climbing so many stairs.
So at RFK, like 3 years ago, Talon made his rounds through the quiet side seats every game, then they seemed to taper it as I think we didn't see him once last season only twice the 2 seasons before. Same with the STM events. The used to have events where there would be a player or two and some activities for younger kids. It was great opportunity for a younger kid to meet the players and talk to them, as opposed to get shoved through a rabid line where adults are dying to get a selfie, an autograph and ask him what his favorite bar was. Those got killed off with the STM twitter handle, the Kids Club and a bunch of other activities like the QA with Olsen and Kasper.
Agreed, I am good bit higher than I would have anticipated, based on the seat view app they had. That's good and bad from my perspective.
