yeah he was bad. miazga wasn't any better tho. whole backline was disorganized and I think it started with the keeper
What worries me is the lack of particularly decent alternatives - not a great time on the managerial merry-go-round. I'm not so naive as to think Poch couldn't possibly go to Real, they're the big boys. They don't have many top shelf alternatives, and if he does go, we don't have many to choose from either.
CCV has been pretty solid at the club level and everyone has a bad game here and there. I think he still deserves a real shot at the Spurs first team and that time needs to come sooner than later.
he was, by all accounts, rather crap (after what had been a great start) at Sheffield United toward the end of his loan there. It's why the loan wasn't continued - he wasn't playing anymore. I'd heard that he wasn't particularly impressing at Ipswich, either, though that from far fewer sources. I'd think it good if he could get some time with the first team during preseason, to see if it looks like he might gel there. But come the season, I don't want him in our first team just for the sake of being there. My opinion is that If he can't contribute, loan him back out; and if he continues to struggle, move him on. But a far better option is to defer to Poch's opinion. If he sees something worth keeping, that's good enough for me.
What happened to Marcus Edwards? Papers saying he’s no longer in Pochettino’s plan and looking to leave the club. Not that unusual for those “next Messi/Ronaldo/Zidane” players to not make it to the next level. Just curious if anyone knows what happened there.
Not sure it's that much of a surprise, even if it is disappointing. Son, Alli, Eriksen, Lamela, Moura (plus much publicised interest in Zaha, Martial) - even allowing for a very heavy workload it's difficult to see where a youngster gets enough minutes in that area of the pitch, no matter how good they are/might become. We saw it with Pritchard - impressive loans are the only way to really make a case, and Edwards' loan of last season was a resounding failure. Ten years ago we were an upwardly mobile team, trying to break our way into the top tier of English football. We could take a few risks on youngsters (the likes of Lennon, Huddlestone, Rose, Walker, Dawson) because we couldn't carry a squad full of ready made stars. Now we're in that top tier, the price for dropping even a tiny fraction is too severe.
Would like to know, too. Very high hopes for him, even if not the first team for at least a year or 2. Shades of John Bostock maybe? Too much hype too young?
this is impressive https://twitter.com/SpursOfficial?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^author COYS!
CCV was was VERY solid against France. Steffen was better organized and CCV was personally responsible for many tackles. He's not sexy but he gets the job done. Apparently Alderwiereld wants to stay now...
He doesn’t necessarily want to stay, when asked he said something along the lines of “sure, why not, I have two year left on my contact”
Starting to get concerned that we still haven't signed anybody, especially with so many of our first team still in the WC - they will not be 100% for the start of the season.
You must not have been a Spurs fan for very long, welcome to business as usual... if you aren't sweating on deadline day it ain't spurs
That, and: Isn't it true that anytime the World Cup is running the transfer market slows as all attention is on the big tournament?
Don't worry, I have been around long enough, thank you very much. Strangely enough however, the one season we did do all our business early, when we bought all those players with the Bale money, AVB got sacked in December and we ended up with Tim Sherwood as manager!
