I guess the Sitting Eagles couldn't sell out the section so the FO saw a need to try to rebuild a burnt bridge. I'll take it. It's good that the FO is trying to rebuild the bridge, regardless of the reasons.
This is what ultimately needs to happen, regardless of what has happened over the past 6+ months. This ownership group is selling their stake ultimately to the LA doctor regardless... so who really cares? Just kiss and make up for now and cheer on the team. DCU will have a new billionaire overlord soon.
Per Oscar Zambrana's post on the Facebook page, DC United hasn't offered anything new. Oscar posted an email from Tom Hunt where he encourages Barra members to purchase season tickets in the supporters sections. Tom states that the new digital ticketing makes it easy to forward tickets or sell them on Ticketmaster. Oscar also posted his response to Tom Hunt where he lists the issues inherent in Tom's offer. Why is this still not good? 1. DCU is not offering tickets to La Barra Brava. It is just asking that the supporters group encourage its members to buy. 2. This means that members have to put up the money for season tickets that they might or might not be able to resell for games that they can't attend. Ticketmaster terms of sale are unclear whether those tickets could be canceled if transferred. 3. The supporters group is unable to buy unused tickets from members that will not use them, resell them to other members, and refund the original ticket owner. 4. This is not the deal that the Screaming Eagles reportedly received. The way that Tom Hunt's email is written, it looks that he is completely unaware that the Front Office made a huge mistake in giving preference to one supporters group over the others.
T. Hunt's email just reads like a boilerplate email to drum up sales. He just filled in the blank with 'Barra Brava'.
In the interests of transparency we are releasing the email received yesterday from Tom Hunt and our response. The offer from the team was that our members can contact the box office and order season tickets. There still is no offer to sell Barra Brava a block of tickets. pic.twitter.com/IjY1w5PcBe— Barra Brava (@Barra_Brava) July 11, 2018 The email...
Gee, Ryan Keefer got the story wrong again and to the advantage of the FO, what a surprise, shocked I am.
I can't stand him. He'll argue with you, not give an inch on his opinion or acknowledge your points and then accuse you of doing the same thing. Dude is so full of himself and they wonder why they get accused of being pro-SEs or pro-FO, let alone get upset about it. Like they really fancy themselves as journalists, yet they bonk in the same Fox, CNN, etc do. They report based on their own biases or agenda.
He knew this was coming out and had to protect the baby eagles. Wait until the Post article comes out later. It will be mind blowing. Keefer and all of BRU is on the SE side and know this clearly comes out and proves it. How he even got this so wrong other than trying to put a lie out there....
I hadn't seen this article from yesterday posted yet. It speaks to the old v. new viewpoint held by ownership and has a Levien quote that scares me a bit as a long-time fan: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2018/07/10/can-opening-audi-field-translate-field-success-dc-united Levien: “Our fans have, I think, had a healthy dose of skepticism about the organization, because we couldn’t get out of RFK fast enough, because we couldn’t build the kind of roster we wanted to build,” Levien said following Rooney’s official public introduction last week. “And I think it’s fair for them to have those questions. And we want to deliver for them. And we want to engage new fans. “There’s a whole new generation of folks who live in D.C. who don’t remember the 90s and the early 2000s when we were winning championships. And this time it’s for them.”
FLEX PLAN Just a heads up. If you signed up for the Flex Plan like I have you are being ripped off by DC United. They have limited seats available and the seats that are available the price is much higher than Ticketmaster. It sucks I am getting ripped off by using the portal to buy my tickets, but they got my money. For example the $75.00 seats on Ticketmaster are $115.00 on the portal and they only show a few available, when Ticketmaster has many available.
I don't want to get into Keefer's position on the SG question because I'm not involved in that. I heartily second your contention that he is nothing more than an apologist for the FO's player moves, business decisions and Olsen's coaching chops. Almost makes you think he is auditioning for VP of Communications for the Club. His articles and commentary read like FO PR pieces.
This is precisely why I decided not to buy the flex plan. I figured that I could get game day tickets cheaper than what was being offered by the team as a special, because .... well, because this is DC United we are talking about. I'm sorry that you got jobbed (and others), and I am glad I followed my instinct.
I should have listened to my gut and not the DC United Sales Rep I just wish I could get the word out to other on this Flex Plan Rip Off. I wonder if others try buying on their DC United Portal, without the Flex Plan are they being ripped as well? I can check, as I still have balance on my account.
Credentials, right? I presume that's what happened to UnitedMania. I'll note that the somewhat negative article in the Post today was not bylined by Goff (although he is presumably in Russia, busy laughing at England today.)
I don’t think he’s auditioning for anything. I think he’s a shitty journalist whose worried about protecting his access, which means toeing the party line, defending a lack of budgets, poor coaching decisions and the SEs side of the supporter row. I think he shit the bed this morning with info that could have only come from inside who thought that shit offer was good. And that’s Hunt.
