Hmm, it will require a demonstration of common sense on the part of the traffic cops ... so that makes me nervous. I wonder if there is a Twitter handle to put that question toward.
I just ordered a clear backpack for $20 on AMazon, dimensions are 16"H x 12"W x 6"D which is 2" above the height limit. Essential for biking in and I really hope they are not going to get weird about the size restrictions.
I was wondering the same thing - seems like all the routes to that parking lot are closed a block around it. I only know one way in according to google - and even it looked a bit suspect from my walk past on Monday (it has you come from M to N via Van St but that might be at least mostly closed for construction so I was just gonna go down to First SW instead. Leave it to baseball to make an already sucky trip suckier.
This was a real thing. I know people had mentioned the barriers around the Ballpark on Monday, but I saw those yesterday and damn. In recent months they had put up bike rack style barriers all along the sidewalks, but now there are jersey walls as well. I figured they got rid of the speed cameras for MLB, but damn. The jersey walls are an eyesore to cover an eyesore. The impending closures are serious. The Eagle Bank Club looks decent from the street. I'll probably never actually see it in person. I keep thinking the concourse televisions are a little small. It hadn't occurred to me when I mentioned 2nd Street being repaved south of the stadium that it would be re-lined. It looks like a parking lane will be eliminated for continued bike lanes to the "waterfront." As a reminder, the team building was the first thing to be worked on. The interior can be seen some in this photo.
FWIW: Sounds like there's a new sports bar coming to the area. Walters was previously a decent small bar in Park View from the owners of DC Reynolds and The Looking Glass. Sounds like the new space will be significantly bigger. Not sure if the ownership picture is the same, but if so those guys generally know what they're doing. Hopefully will be a good spot to stop on the walk down to AF. https://www.jdland.com/dc/index.cfm...ming-to-South-Capitol-and-N-in-2019/#comments
If you turn off M St SE on to First St SE, you should be able to get to the parking lot that way. At least, that's what the map on WTOP's website tells me in terms of streets that will be open.
I really hope the FO starts lobbying to bring more bars and restaurants to the AF area. DCU needs there own places too
I hope you can get to the entrance on N St, regardless of the red line there. I saw there is a back entrance (with a purple line above) but it's an automatic entrance for people with cards, the entrance with people manning it is on N St. Thanks for the graphic!
Thanks for the tip about where the entrance with people manning it is. I guess from that map, that means you can go M/New Jersey/N to get to that lot, because the road closure on N ends where the lot entrance is.
If CSC is running the show still then you will be fine. Mine is bigger than the dimensions and I’ve never had anyone second guess it. Been through security dozens of times with it. They hardly even look at it.
According to the graphic above that looks possible. According to the words posted earlier, not so much - it lists N as closed between SCap and NJ. That also says N Place (the road going on the other side of Lot H/I with the un-manned gates) will be closed on that block - I like the graphic with the purple line that says "restricted" better than the worded one that just says Closed on it - at least they graphic does say there will be two traffic-control staff at the corner of 1st and N
just noticed (the words are only bold and 3 inches high) that this graphic is for Sunday-Tues ... we'll be there on Sat. So the worded one (that makes me more nervous) is probably better to go by
They've got a ref and linesmen, so it must be a scrimmage. And what looks like a TV camera above the announcers' booth.
This says the above restrictions/closures are in effect from Sun. 7/15 to Tues. 7/17. Are they in effect for Sat. as well? Edit: FB already asked. asitis
I can see the headlines now... 'Rooney injures himself scoring 5 goals in scrimmage, out for season.' Olsen exclaims, 'He was brilliant in the scrimmage before getting hurt, showed an unbelievable amount of hustle and GRIT.'
