    Links?

Not picking Özil is an astonishingly stupid thing to do.

For some reason, autocorrect now adds umlauts to Özil.

Bierhof chucked Ozil under the bus in multiple interviews after and he and low were reappointed - then made multiple confusing additions to his original stupid comments

Then this week the President of DFB shot his mouth off as well

Hopefully this fires Ozil up to show the DFB what kind of player they are missing out on.

    On a lighter note:

    Jitty,

Just thought you should know, every time I read one of your posts I internally hear Rafa Honigstein's voice speaking them.

Not to threadjack with the transfer thread, but it looks like Juve will break their transfer record to sign CR7.

I'm sure the pace of Serie A will lessen the impact of his diminishing skills once he starts to decline, and they'll more than likely recoup that money with their marketing arm but I'm wondering if Juventus is setting themselves up to be knocked off their perch by the other sides once if and when any of them get themselves together.

I can see the article now: Ozil's picked in a future friendly/Euros and tells the DFB to go f**k themselves for throwing him under the bus to mask their own shortcomings.

I am intrigued to see who they replace him with. No one player can replace his goals, but even two top players will likely still leave them a worse team (since Neymar, Mbappe etc. are unavailable for at least another year).

I think the presumption might be that there are players already in the squad whose production will increase in Ronaldo's absence.

But then, it is Madrid ... maybe they'll go after Messi. :cautious:

IMO this is a terrible deal for Juve

So much money for a 33 year old will end in tears even with epic juicing

Serie A is a walk. They are probably aiming for the Champions league. Didn't they just pick up Can as well?

of course, Madrid will always be linked with (and pursue) great players. I just meant that there might be a perception that they need not rush out and obtain the most prolific scorer on the market, as the likes of Bale and Benzema will surely be expected to score more in Ronaldo's absence.

but it's Madrid, so they'll probably not be thinking that at all. don't mind me. I'm just babbling.

Kinda watched the FRA-BEL match, and noticed that while Hazard continued to have good games (e.g. effectively dangerous runs w/ ball), KdB had a relative stinker (numerous errant passes). Lukaku was near invisible compared to his form in the last 2 matches.

France were just the superior team, especially defensively, and including their GK. Wondering if whoever meets them in the final has much of a chance.

p.s. If it's England there will be nice symmetry of 2 seasoned forwards who cannot put the ball in the net... in one case cannot even shoot the ball on goal. But who do contribute in other useful but less lethal ways.

His turns are amazing—maybe the best I’ve seen. He just needs to realize that if he doesn’t have a shot after that turn then he needs to move the ball on. Players will be scrambling and there will be 1-2 open men in promising positions if the ball moves quickly. However usually he gets greedy and tries to beat a second man or split a double-team which rarely comes off.
