Facile reliance on cheap, sweeping generalizations about cultural causality will also leave one unprepared.
Some of what you say is true but is does seem that most games that turn into a shitfest involve predominately teams from the New World. It was more apparent at this World Cup than before. PH
Sweden vs England? Oh, that would be a very easy match to officiate because the Swedes are conciliatory and the English are stoic.
I've watched enough CONCACAF football to know that surrounding a referee is apart of the football culture in central and South American a lot more than it is in northern Europe. But maybe Lahoz could come do a Panama v Mexico Gold Cup semifinal and all the players would respect him and not surround him. But I highly doubt that to be true.
On a local level, I disagree. Over the years, I have had FAR more trouble from players with a Latin background . I don't know why.
So, is it possible that you may have to do a little work on understanding the cultural differences to improve this?
On the money front, about Dutch referee: https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/6720264/england-sweden-world-cup-referee-bjorn-kuipers-millionaire/
I dunno. All of the guys I have worked with side by side five days a week for the past 27 years are Mexican American and they agree with me.
