In 2014, I was at work and was forced to watch our semifinal at a bar full of contrarian casuals backing Germany. I couldn't leave until it was over of course.

Let's just say I won't be doing that again.

That would be what I would envision as torture. Last time I was at a bar for a Selecao game was the 2004 Copa America final. I could put up a casual commentary in a WC match where I am neutral, but it's a situation I'll try my absolute best not to subject myself to for a Brazil WC game. I did make a mistake going to my wife's friend house in 2014.

I am debating whether or not to go to a bar. There is a football bar a few blocks from where I work but I think packing up and working the rest of the day from home watching the match may be a better idea.

I feel for you guys who have to put in a full shift today. Luckily, there is some leniency where I work seeing that most people are taking an extended 4th of July holiday. I'll be heading out of here in about 15 minutes to watch the game.

You know that either way it's going to be impossible to work. Pack it up. =)

I'd rather watch the game with a bunch of Argies. (Literally.)

I was at a bar inside the NYNY in Vegas watching the game with my sister and a bunch of randoms. When Germany scored the 2nd I told her let's go, they're gonna win 20-0. She only agreed on leaving after the 3rd goal. As I was signing the check Germany scored the 4th and as we walked out of the Casino the 5th. I spent the next 70 minutes walking on the 110 degree Strip because I was afraid of what I was going to see if I entered another Casino.

Watch the group stage games at a bar, watch the knockout stages at home imo.

Tite is going to have to find ways to open space up front without leaving the counter so open.

    He's having a good game.

The second goal was a killer. We have a mountain to climb, but its about getting that first before the 20th minute of second half. I'll still believe if we can do so. May have to give in on Jesus, just not causing any real danger this tournament.

Belgium players are celebrating this win like they`ve won the world cup already. I see them crash and burning vs France, celebrating too much during a tournament is never a good sign.

Hey Bezhusan, this is often the case, but I can understand how they must feel. To date this group of players been viewed as (and objectively has been) underachieving at the national level and now they've beaten Brazil. Whether of not this was a vintage Brazil team, I have to believe they went into the game with a lot of pressure and perhaps some self doubt. Had they lost it would have cemented a legacy narrative of a lost golden generation. This a liberating win.

I don't think they crash and burn. They may indeed lose. I like both squads and both midfields. Should be a good game.

I'm picking Croatia and Sweden today.

Good omen in Belgium's favor is that since WC'1990 every team that knocked out Brazil happened to make it to the Final!!

Boring first game, fantastic second game filled with drama. Congrats to both Croatia and Russia. Both showed a ton of heart, especially Russia which is a much more limited team technically. They should be proud.

Not sure in what condition Croatia is going to arrive to play England on Thursday. Easiest path to finals ever for England? I'll have to think about any easier...

In 2011, Fernandes was called to the Brazil squad for the game Superclásico de las Américas, which he rejected, saying he was having "personal problems". Fernandes went on to make his debut for Brazil in a 4–0 friendly victory against Japan on 14 October 2014
