Not convinced it’s UEFA. I believe it has more to do with romance/Latin culture.

The teams that regularly dive and regularly confront are those countries that have a romance/Latin culture.

Spain and Italy, both UEFA, both behave more like So. American teams than UEFA teams. Both have romance/Latin cultures.

As an Everton supporter, I can vouch with how true this statement is. He is left footed and left footed only.

PK for the push by the GK while he was holding the ball.

Or indirect because he held the ball for 30 seconds?

Kuipers trying for a caution-free match, but that foul by #6 Sweden should have been YC.

Never mind, correct caution to Maguire! Now he can hand a few more out to keep order for the last 5 mins.

Anyone else looking for an England - France final?

I think Kuipers' involvement there sort of shrouds the whole thing in a time-warp. But then I'm a keeper.

Sweden pulled that free kick out a couple of yards to increase the chance of getting a dip on the ball.

Yes. Interesting choice on how he managed. GK still took a while after K told him to get going.

FIFA might have marked Cakir for the Final, but Kuipers would be another excellent choice. He's done nothing wrong in this tournament.

Decent job by Kuipers, but teams made job much easier than many other games.
    FIFA should get the message.

    AR has to catch that.

Can we please put these ridiculous stereotypes to rest?
Every country dives. Every country confronts the refs when things are going poorly for them.
It’s a global game...a melting pot of everything good and bad.

Can anyone comment on this? This being the Lingard through ball to Sterling right at about the 43rd minute. (Sorry. I haven't figured out how to snip out a video segment yet.)

I get that the instruction is to wait, but Sterling went in on goal and the keeper had to come out and play the ball. Then the flag went up after the keeper had saved it and a Sweden defender came over.

It seems like the AR (actually FIFA, I guess) is putting the keeper at risk for injury.

Not trying to stir the pot. Just curious if this is even part of the discussion on the delayed offside.

It's a side effect of the delayed flag. But it's considered an acceptable risk to avoid major offside errors.

Sure but stereotypes exist for a reason. Some countries and players from those countries do it much more often than others. To deny that is to be an unprepared referee. FIFA's neutering of referees to enforce misconduct with yellow cards only exacerbates the bad.

Agree. Whether that call needed a delayed flag is a separate question. Seemed to me that it was clear enough that delay wasn’t really needed.
