Thread to discuss the upcoming presidential elections. Who are the candidates, who is rumoured to run, who do you think will win? Discuss it here.

So far there are three candidates (the last two announced today that they are running):

Frederico Varandas - the first official candidate. He has been Chief Doctor at SCP for quite a number of years and only recently abandoned his post after recent events where the players were attacked. He is also ex-military, serving in Afghanistan.

Fernando Tavares Pereira - announced his candidacy today, not much is known of him though

Pedro Madeira Rodrigues - also announced his candidacy today, if you remember he ran against BdC a year ago where he lost with less than 10% of the vote.

PMR is a snake!!! He is the last guy any fan should want in their club let alone president.
Whoever wins, PMR will always make his stupid anti remarks every now and then. Him and his posse. It's guys like this the SCP will never have peace at the club. I hope fans realize this and he gets smoked in the elections.

As of now, don't quote me but I believe so. I suspect he'll be ousted of being a socio thus not allowing him to run.

Agreed, PMR is just awful. Today he announced that Claudio Ranieri will be his coach. Varandas right now seems to be the consensus choice.

He can right now, but he has disciplinary proceedings against him which may suspend him as a socio or even expel him, in which case he wouldn't be able to.

There was rumblings that Carlos Vieira (BdC's #2 guy) might run, but I think he is also under the same proceedings - there may be other alternative candidates that share BdC's vision though.

Don't forget the obligatory "this time Figo actually is going to run for president"

I Ideally want BDC 2.0 minus the facebook and the internal big mouth. Him yapping about emails, vouchers, or whatever corruption doesn't bother me.

PMR stated that if elected, he will bring Claudio Ranieri as coach. He is the only candidate so far to announce a coach, the others have said they would keep Peseiro as changing coach in the beginning of September would make no sense.

I honestly believe that by PMR announcing that is only going to hurt his chances for that reason. Don't need a coaching change right away.
I can't stand that guy. Everytime I see his face, I see douchebag written all over it.

Well there are 3 league games before the elections, if Peseiro starts off with 3 wins then PMR has basically shot himself in the foot big time.

Nah i was joking. Every time we have elections without fail Figos name gets brought up.

I dont know really anything about these candidates. If someone does, would you mind giving a breakdown of each one? Policies, pros, cons, etc?

Still early. The projects haven't really been explained that much. The cutoff for any new candidates is august 8th so I assume after that we will know more

Varandas - By default has relationships with current personnel and knows what's going on.
Pros/cons - none in my opinin

    PMR - SNAKE!!
Should be nowhere near SCP. He should get a job at Benfica. Apparently has close friends at SLB and has runned a anti-SCP blog.
I want this guy far away as possible. if you look up the word "fake SCP fan', his name will be next to it.

Tavares - I really know nothing about him.

    Potential candidates:

Figo - no intro needed. We know what he's all about.

"BDC" - We all know him. Probably one of the best presidents we've ever had if you remove the last 6 months. Love his passion and dedication. Needed to let his communications person do the talking.

Dias Ferreira appears to be the 4th candidate to run. The former president of the General Assembly ran in 2011 where he finished 3rd behind Godinho Lopes and BdC.

Varandas confirmed the support of Rogerio Alves and Miguel Albuquerque. Rogerio was long rumoured to be a potential strong candidate and is rumoured to be a candidate for president of the MAG and Albuquerque has been director of Futsal I believe. Varandas so far seems the frontrunner.

Carlos Vieira, BdC's former #2 who was responsible for the club's finances, has announced his candidacy. He becomes the 6th candidate to announce he is running. BdC was the 5th - he made the announcement on Facebook, but it's still incognito whether he can actually run due to the numerous disciplinary proceedings currently against him at the club.

Joao Benedito has thrown his hat in to the ring. Probably the only real competition to Varandas so far.

Way out of hand. Varandas has to be the front runner imo.

I'm worried with so many candidates, that BDC might win with a measly 30%.

Its an incognito if he will even run. Him or Carlos Vieira. They may be suspended because of all the violations with club statutes in the last couple of months. Suspensions could last 8 years.

Hope so. BDC just needs to go away at his point.
