Hey, don't knock it. Chung-shin-ryuk and being temperamental aren't directly involved In soccer but these are unique Korean qualities.

In the last game, did you not see how much dominant the Kor players were during the last half? They were frustrated and angry. Neither is a strategy or football ability but this made them play energized. Imagine if they play with the same passion against Germany. But then again, I'm afraid they might respect Germany too much to play the same way.

There is a big difference in perception between the lay people and pro soccer players. Even Korean soccer experts commented about the inexperience of Korean players and the lack of a domestic league to foster good players.

Korea's defense is so poor that they can concede goals even when parking the bus. The defensive players always looked panicked and then ended up giving away PKs.

By giving it all, I'm assuming you wanted KNT to be an attacking team throughout the whole game. Seeing how their midfield and defense are lacking, this could put the team in danger of giving up multiple goals and maybe lead to a 0-5 rout. Maybe a good offense could make up for it but their finishing skills aren't good enough and there are 9 very scared and weak players who aren't able to pass, cross, etc. well enough to contribute to a good strike.

I think the term in our vocabulary on jung sin ryuk is way overused and overated. It's like when Ki or any other media outlet tells the public that. I mean WTF is Jung sin ryuk actually?

Anyways if he has an UEFA b licence I hope he stays away from Korean football and gain experience in Europe.

Yeah, Moon Hong is a coach that has a UEFA B license, and was head coach of a amateur team called STV FC which got absorbed as Seoul United FC (K3 League Basic)'s reserve side, so he is now a coach for Seoul United FC.

I’m not criticizing SHM for his performance against Sweden, I’m criticizing using two WC games as a metric to judge players by when a lot of teams are struggling with managerial issues. Lewa and Messi are on a different tier, and two bad performances with their NT does not change that.

And I agree that Son is a really good player, but he’s not someone who could compete for a golden boot or golden ball. That’s just delusional.

He should think about gaining experience in Europe and upgrading his licence. Just imagine a Korean manager in the big leagues.

    In the alternative universe:
Ji Dongwon succeed as Dortmund striker while Suk Hyunjun is banging goals for Porto.
Nam Taehee finally GTFO of Qatar and is playing in France.
    Kwon Changhoon is not injured.
Ki Sungyueng is playing in Juventus.
Park Jooho is a starting LB for Dortmund.
Yun Sukyoung is still in the premier league.
Hong Jeongho is still in the Bundesliga.
Lee Seungwoo and Paik Seungho looking promising playing for Barcelona first team.
It feels good and we just beat Sweden and Mexico. We're hoping to make it to the quarterfinal.

He also needs to face racism (!!!) and bias towards Asians coaches. Not easy for him.

I don't know about HJH, him staying in the Bundesliga would have meant only that he would start ahead of KYG, not JHS.

Edit: to be honest i am not even sad that Kwon is missing the world cup, more about the fact that he won't be able to join borussia mon, a very good club to continue to progress.

Sorry if this has been discussed before but has Lee Young-Pyo ever expressed interest in coaching? I think he's great as a pundit and whenever I read/hear what he has to say I just think, "this guy gets it". And he seems like someone who would command respect from the players while also having the resume as a player to back that up. I know the transitions from player to coach doesn't always work out but curious if he ever thought about it.

That's what we thought about Hong Myung Bo, and he didn't pan out.

If I was in LYP, PJS, etc. shoes, I would never want to get into managing/coaching. It can tarnish their reputation a bit.

And as a fan, I hope they do not get into coaching too. Being a great analyst isn't the same as being a great coach.

I agree. I would much prefer LYP and PJS to run the KFA and select the managers than to manage themselves.
