Here's another in a series of "Mattylip Pro Tips": For this game, the cost is $10 for Season Ticket Members and $15 for everyone else. (Field seats are $40.) If you go onto your Account Manager to purchase tickets, however, you will be charged $13 per ticket ($10 plus a $3 fee per ticket). I have confirmed with the team that if you show your STM card at the box office on Saturday you only will be charged $10 per ticket. For me, that's a savings of $12 ($3 per ticket x 4 tickets). Almost enough to buy an entire beer!
Ahh another Union open cup match vs red bull. My brain tells me loss... but the beer in me says win. On another note on a crazy coincidence I came across a picture I took at the Unions first ever open cup match... against redbull... as a qualifier. Hope the attendance is better then the pic. I'd be there but sadly I'm texas
Red Bulls put on their best starting XI on Wednesday night. I wonder whether they might not start BWP and some other players. For this game, do teams get a 4th sub if the game goes to Extra Time? While McCarthy usually starts USOC games, might Blake start tomorrow?
They know the likelihood of getting a playoff spot is statically unlikely at this point. They will play the starters.
Current odds to make the playoffs are 22%. If the Union go 8-8-3 the rest of the way, they have a 50% chance of making the playoffs. If they go 8-6-5, they are mostly assured of getting the 6th seed. Not impossible, but not likely. http://www.sportsclubstats.com/USA/MLS.html
They're 1 point behind 6th place Orlando. Crazier things have happened...........though dropping points to San Jose, Colorado & Orlando won't help them.
FiveThirtyEight has them at 32% somehow! I find both numbers overly optimistic. Seasons of subjective observation need to be considered. Such as the likelihood that other teams will make smart mid season transfers that the Union probably won't. I still think Jim will start the best XI available. He's got a week buffer between games if nothing else.
Not a rivalry......... Marsch is not happy to that Philly scheduled the clubs’ Open Cup tie this Saturday. pic.twitter.com/KapTrdfQ9e— Mark Fishkin #🟦 (@MarkFishkin) June 14, 2018
100% the right call as the hosting to team to play the game on the weekend under the guise of trying to get better attendence.
The stream works perfectly from the MLS site, but won't go full screen on the Union's website. Typical. In other news, Burke heads another one over the net. He seems to have been watching some videos of CJ failing to convert chances.
Classic Open Cup Colin with the dive at the end. That is up there with the one when he played for SKC years back. Perfect player for Marsch, really.
I slept through the game, and it seems like no one is really saying good or bad things. Boring win, maybe?
