Ah crap, missing games for stupid sponsorship trips... Too beckham-esque for my liking. Oh well - I guess that's the price to pay for signing these big names.
Not sure we would play, or at least start, Ibra in Portland anyway on their turf. We didn't when we were there a few weeks ago.
According to the latest corner of the Galaxy podcast, the LAG new about this commitment when they signed Zlatan and it was not an unknown to anyone.
That's a good point. The Galaxy didn't know about this match before they signed him (we just qualified for it last week). I believe he's only going to be gone during the group stage, which means he'd be back before the SJ game (hopefully).
I thought these OC matches were scheduled til after WC. I am now fully in WC mode but let me put my vuvuzela down and once more onto the breach I guess. We can do this without Ibra. It appears there is help coming for the backline. "The team announced on Thursday the signing of veteran defender Sheanon Williams. Joining as a free agent, Williams will be available for selection on Friday for LA's U.S. Open Cup match against the Portland Timbers. In addition, the Galaxy announced defender Emrah Klimenta has been released."
Ok so Ronaldo is simply amazing! Anybody know how we are approaching this match tonight? Or is everybody glued to the WC replays?
Looks like pretty close to a full strength lineup. Just missing Lletget and Alessandrini (plus the unavailable Zlatan and DS bros)....
#LAGalaxy #USOC2018 XI: David Bingham; Dave Romney, Michael Ciani, Jorgen Skjelvik, Ashley Cole ©; Chris Pontius, Servando Carrasco, Perry Kitchen, Emmanuel Boateng; Bradford Jamieson IV; Ola Kamara.— Adam Serrano (@AdamSerrano) June 16, 2018
Portland also using mostly starters, although Valeri is not in their 18, which is a big plus for us....
I’m happy the rest of you have lives and are out doing things on a Friday night and not suffering thru this....
