Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] I didn't see any Reds stuff in Tokyo when I was there in March. (We did get to the season opener at Saitama Stadium, though.) There's a shop in Saitama, Red Voltage, that has Reds merchandise but I don't think you'll have any luck at the stadium unless it's a game day. Here's the shop's web site: http://www.urawa-reds.co.jp/redvoltage/index.html Also, you might be able to order something online here: http://www.urawa-reds.co.jp/shop/ Wish I could be there on the 11th. That's going to be one rocking stadium.
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] Am I correct in assuming that the Red Voltage shop is close to the Saitama Shintoshin station on the Keihin-Tohoku JR East line?
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] I have no idea -- I can't read any of that myself. It looks like their phone number is 048-824-0290. Perhaps someone else here can help translate the address? It looks like it's there on the bottom of the page.
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] Sorry, I had kind of figured that you had paid the store a visit when you went to the season opener, thus you would know how to get there. Unfortunately when I saw the Reds play in October, they played at Tokyo's National Stadium, not at Saitama/Komaba. Oh well, guess I'll go on a long walk. Thanks JRH
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] You can also get unofficial hard-core supporter goods here. http://www.urawapoint.com/shop_index.html It'll take 10min walk from Urawa station west exit. And 5min walk more to get to redvoltage from here. If it is match day, only you have to do is come to URAWA station and just follow reds supporters, then you could get to both shops. And you can take bus for saitama stadium from urawa station.
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] My friend Mori Ono from Tokyo say several japanese sources confirm The J-League (first division) will expand from 16 to 18 teams next season.
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] FYI, Urawa is four stations down south of the Omiya Terminal where the bullet trains and the local lines, including the Keihin-Tohoku, meet. Don't mix it up with Kita-Urawa and Minami-Urawa Stations. These are NOT your destination. The Championship tickets have been sold out. Homejacking by Urawa supporters?
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] Promotion to J1: Kawasaki and Omiya Pro/rel Playoff: Either Kashiwa or C. Osaka (J1) vs Fukuoka (J2) Promotion to J2: Tokushima and Kusatsu J1 = 18 clubs J2 = 12 clubs (unchanged) Even if Kusatsu (runners-up) lose in the final match against Honda FC (3rd place), I think they'll be allowed to join J2.
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] Am I implying correctly that Urawa station (between Minami-Urawa and Kita-Urawa), then, is the closest to the Red Voltage shop?
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] Beside, unless Kusatsu loses next game by 3 goals, they will still keep the 2nd place.

The league total average decreased from last year, when the league had Nigata which attracted 30K+.
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] The league total will decrease further next year, without Kawasaki, Omiya, and possibly Fukuoka. Tokushima and Kusatsu have smaller fan bases as of now. Kawasaki: Attendance will definitely increase. They scored 104 goals in 44 games, but you can't score 2.39 goals per game in J1! I hope they don't become an elevator team that goes up and down... Omiya: Props to their effort so far, but J1 is not easy at all. Kofu and Yamagata: Well done. They are not ready to play in J1 yet but getting closer. Sendai and Sapporo: Too bad they don't have a financially stable team. Both are great cities. Kyoto: They'll have to sell Choi and Kurobe to J1. 1.46 million citizens deserve a good football team. Kyocera's new stadium would be a plus. Again, club finance and management are crucial in the long run.
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] If I just read my screen correctly (it wasn't in English), Cerezo Osaka managed to avoid the relegation playoff, thus Kashiwa Reysol will take on Avispa Fukuoka on the 4th and 12th of December.
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] Okubo saved Cerezo from the relegation playoff. Good news for Mallorca? Fukuoka beat Sapporo in the relegation playoff before. They should be highly motivated to get back to J1. Really bad news for Kashiwa. I foresee a mass exodus of players, such as Tamada and Myojin, if Reysol get relegated...
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] would be more fun for Tamada to play in a team that could back him up better, but without too much duplicate competition -- maybe Kashima? they need some technique there...
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] Maybe. But I think he'd prefer a club within Greater Tokyo. Could be Marinos if Ahn leaves.
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] Tamada is used for a TOYOTA's TV commercial. His new club is needless to say...
Sleeve badges on J-League uniforms Could someone briefly explain to me the difference between certain teams' badges on the sleeves of their uniforms? For instance: Jubilo Iwata, last year's cup winners, have what looks to be a JFA badge on their right sleeve: Yokohama F-Marinos, last year's league winners, have the same badge, I believe: If these are indeed some sort of JFA badge, and they are indeed given to the previous years' trophy winners, why don't Urawa Reds sport a badge as well(for winning the 2003 Nabisco Cup)? Is it because the Nabisco Cup isn't a sanctioned JFA tournament? Finally, what badge is Sanfrecce Hiroshima wearing, above the J-League logo on the right sleeve (I noticed it during yesterday's game on TV)? Thanks
Re: Sleeve badges on J-League uniforms Just in case you fellas havent seen it yet - http://www.jsgoal.jp/club/asx/00013806.asx friggen beautiful.
