"Bahrain striker A’ala Hubail, Iran forward Ali Karimi and Japan playmaker Shunsuke Nakamura have been announced as the nominees for this year’s AFC Player of the Year award." - AFC

Who do you think should win this one?

Ali Karimi deserves it I voted for him but I don't know if he is really going to win it! I hope not its going to be like the Asian Cup MVP. Almost 80% of the people voted for Ali Karimi and who won!? Shunsuke Nakamura! I'm not saying nat Nakamura is a bad player. Not at all he is a very good player!
But everyone who knows a little bit about football and watched the Asian Cup would pick Ali Karimi as MVP.

No, Nakamura did lead lead his team to victory. The MVP should be chosen from the winning team. As for player of the year though, it obviously isn't clear as the two play in completely different leagues. Nakamura did lead Japan to many victories in international play this year though.

Nakamura already won the Asian cup MVP so I doubt he'll win this one too.

So did Ali Karimi. Did you watched the Iran NT games this season? And its bullsh saying that the MVP should be chosen from the winning team. It makes no sense. That means if Maldives wins all their games with 1-0 and all the second round, semi final and final matches with luck and with penalty's the best player should be chosen from them? The best player should be the MVP.

hmmm... difficult one. I'm not really sure how exactly they choose these things -- (does anyone? I guess you can ask...) Do they look at all-round contribution to the team (including supportive plays and game-making leadership), and performance at club level, and comparative growth in technique and maturity/leadership?

Either Karimi or Nakamura -- I'd say it would be an easy compromise to give this one to Karimi. And finally Iranians can rejoice!

Just because he won the MVP doesn`t mean he can`t win the Player of the Year award.

    Nakamura should win though.

http://persianfootball.com/news/international/EEpkkFuZuFeVsNOgja.shtml] Looks like Nakumara has been crossed out and now it's between karimi and hubail only.[/url]

there are also some stats on all 3 players there but due to stupid bigsoccer policy i might get banned if i post the whole article so...

I guess with nakumara out we can now safely call karimi the asian player of the year, then again we have to remind ourseleves that these awards are given by the AFC :)

btw here is a photo of young karimi
    [IMG]

haha those are some scary eyes, he always opens his eyes wide when taking pics for some reason.

Yeah but they will announce it a few days before to the players like they did last year with Mahdavikia. I can say you that I am 99% sure that Ali Karimi won it.

    @ Txtriathlete
Lol the coaches will vote and they already have voted a month ago!
